low power when hot

meaning it's the A/C then cause you don't have the space to wot all the time.

Yes the problem of bad performance is caused by the A/C when in heavy traffic.

The other thing about the A/C turning off by itself when WOT is not a problem, it even works fine, I was just curious to know why it was doing that.

Sounds like a common protege issue that somehow got carried over to the 3's... somehow? Don't ask me, ask mazda why they didn't just share the 6 A/C with you guys since you already have my engine (shrug)

You're going to get less power when driving in hot/humid/high altitude conditions because the air is less dense. This is why turbochargers/superchargers were originally developed for airplane engines, so that they could develop their rated horsepower to a higher altitude (NOT to go fast at lower altitudes). A CAI would help, and so would turning off the A/C.

windows open at highway speeds ant no better...
