Doesn't get much hottern then here in florida and I havent noticed a loss of power.

Have you done any mods? since it is hot out are you driving with a/c on constantly?

I've got a 3i, and I've noticed with the A/C on that the engine is very doggy in low RPMs - you have to give it a bit more gas and be slower with the clutch on takeoff, or it bogs down. Totally different story first thing in the morning when the engine is cool and no A/C - tires squealing and ready to haul ass.

why is that when the car is cold when you step on it ..it hauls like it has never done before like it got more horsepower over night....some say that the ecu has the engine running richer because it is cold...if thats the case as soon as ecu tuning is out we gonna have some sick MZ3...also it would be nice to dyno it when its cold..

you can dyno it when its cold...how else can companies get 15-20 hp off an intake but 2nd you do it it's like 8-10hp.

yeah 6 is too cold cause the compressor stays on at all times untill you wot. the 3/protege have the compressor swithing on too fast issue...one of many mazda issues not yet fixed. Even the gas gauges suck...(hand)

I live in AZ too, but have not felt any loss in power. I drive with the AC on most of the time too. Either something is up with your car or it is the auto tranny.

Yeah I'm tired..thanks Az! hot temps on an atx....invest in a tranny cooler. another thing to add...were you carring any luggage/heavier than normal items in the car than normal? also Az are you driving conservatively or...like the car was designed to be driven(Like It Was Stolen)?

I don't think I could be a conservative drive even if I tried really hard....wheres the fun in driving conservatively?..... (rofl)

I try to drive conservative but that never hapens either since 95% of my driving is freeway and I downshift alot to pass slow moving traffic. Maybe you can't feel the a/c on a manual...in an auto you feel every slight change...and the 4 cyl exhaust note changes when a/c is on and even when putting on rear defroster. hell When someone gets in the car it feels like I lost a cylinder! with the a/c on I get chills and the gas needle visualy moves. Back to original complaint...as this "Feeling" felt in certain gears...were you in automode...manual mode?

Same thing with manual tran

I have a 3 5 doors manual transmission and live in Florida. I have the same problem when it's very hot and the a/c is on. You have to do what GimmeA3S is saying if you want to be able to move forward. Also even with my manual tran I can feel every time the a/c compressor starts. It feels like you loose 20 hp or more. I had 2 Ford Escort before and I had the same a/c problems. I think it's because the a/c system is the same they put in cars with bigger engines (it maybe even comes from Ford) and it's too hp consuming for small 4 bangers.

I also experienced something with my new 3 I had never experienced before with my other cars. When you accelerate very hard, it feels like the a/c turns off by itself. I would like to know if someone else experienced that. Let me explain it a little bit better. If you have the a/c on and you shift down in 3rd gear (for example) and you step on it and shift up around 6000 rpm and step on it again (when you want to pass someone let's say), you will feel very warm air coming out of the vents. Remove your foot from the gas pedal and in a matter of seconds the cool air comes back. Does someone have an explanation on that?

yes, the A/C compressor turns off at WOT

it's something of a safety feature, in case of needing to pass or get out of the way, etc. without having the A/C bogging it down

yes what he said if you don't floor it then it will cut on and off as it normaly does.

meaning it's the A/C then cause you don't have the space to wot all the time.
