Actually, they just had a TV show on Spike about the growing problem...

It was pretty frightning...

i am humbled by you presence oh great white ninja.........can i be the antique white ninja in training?

Well for some reason the smoke is like gone almost. Just smells bad according to my coworker who was following me last night. She asked "why does your car smell stinky?" haha

Can the turbo really be going bad when it the boost is still holding good at 6psi?

Yes turbos ca n have long and seeming painful deaths. I had a friend with a turbo II drive with a bad turbo for over a year. Just one day it stopped spooling and when he took it apart the compresor wheel was inside the intake pipe.

Ya man, I doubt you'd even know if it's going bad, if it weren't the signs you've already been shown...

BLAH. smoke was back once at a stop light again. Man its embarrasing. Time to contemplate selling the thing I guess, too much hassle.

You seem a worthy apprentice... First you must show your dedication and beat the piss out of a Civic...

Now as for the turbo..

Don't sell the car, you'll never forgive yourself. As some of the guys may have mentioned, either send your turbo to get rebuilt or buy and new one and just replace it... Since you've caught it early, there's probably no damage at all done to your engine. I'd be surprised if your car was in the shop for more than a week and if it cost you more than $600. That's way less than you spend (per year) on new car payments. Putting it into that perspective is what helped me decide to rebuild my motor rather than have Mazda put a new one in or selling it and buying a new car.

You mean: "Dead must she be... aye..."

C'mon, seriously, you expect to be a worthy apprentice with that performance?

Well everyones getting way off topic but you have a serious problem. Its not the turbo its the HEAD GASKET!!!!!!!!! Coolant burns white. Its getting past the gasket into the combustion chamber, hense the smoke and stink. Check the oil and coolant visually, if they look or smell like they are mixing, ding ding. It occansionally goes away when corosion seals the crack. But it will come back and be worse. Get it fixed ASAP, when it goes all the way you will overheat and warp your head. Also do the timing belt, tensioner, and water pump at the same time because the heads got to come off either way, save the labor cost in the future.

Nope, rich is blue, lean goes bang....when your pistons and rods crack. White is coolant, go grab some of each and poor it in your drive way and light them up. Black and blue is normal, for the most part, its oil and gas. White is a red flag, its not meant to burn!! Its like pissing on a fire, lots of white smoke. Think about it

I probably need to get it to CS sometime soon to check it out. IF it was coolant burning wouldn't the coolant level go down? Plus wouldn't smoke come out all time time and not just at stop lights
