looking to buy the S model

I wanted to find out from people who have bought the new Mazda 3's, how the performance is. Is it good in bad weather? What kind of options are good to get. Have any of u had any major issues since buying the car? I would love to hear from folks that have to deal with snow/rain and it drives in those conditions. Any comments or suggestions would be GREAT! I have read alot of reveiws and for the most part, its been pretty positive. (drive)

No complaints, here. Just did the 1000 mile oil change last night and haven't had any problems with the car. I have a few minor bitches about the design but everything has functioned flawlessly.
Haven't had any snow to play in but it tracks perfectly in rain. It warms up incredibly fast, too. From a 30F cold start, I have heat in about 1 mile.
Performance is all-around great, in my opinion. Good on the twisties, good in a straight line (starting and stopping) and good at high speed (just over 100 so far).

When did you purchase the car? Did you get any options? If so which ones? Its good to hear that the car warms up pretty quickly especially being from Philly it gets pretty frigid in the winter as I am sure u know being from Michigan..lol. My car righ tnow takes forever to heat up... I freeze my A$$ off in the mean time..lol ! If you dont mind me asking how much did you pay for it?

Check edmunds.com for a good price range for the exact model you want. Take that information to the dealer and you pretty much have all the bargaining leverage you need. Also mention that you are getting quotes from other dealers to let them know you are serious about buying a car.

Sorry to get off topic, but what is the S? In Canada the GT is the top model for the sedan. Is this the same thing?

In the US, the Mazda 3 comes in 3 models, the Mazda 3i which is the Sedan with a 144 HP engine, no fog lights black mesh front grille, the Mazda 3s which is the Sedan with a 160 HP engine, fog lights, body-colour matched front grille, and the Mazda 3S 5-door which is a Wagon with 160 HP engine, fog lights, body-colour matched front grille and 17" rims standard. The are options packages that come with some of these configurations, such as Leather, ABS, Moonroof, Xenon, Navigation, etc.. but the only option the 3i has is AC, moonroof, abs, fogs, alloys...

I purchased it 2/23/04, picked it up from dealer inventory with exactly what I wanted. Options included are 6-disc/mooroof package, ABS/airbag package and leather interior. Price was $18,415 plus ttl and I dropped another $300 in accessories before I left the dealer (and another $190 in acc and parts yesterday). So far I've gotten the Autodim/compass/temp mirror, cargo tray, cargo net, bumper steps, all-weather floor mats and pearl satin aluminum fuel filler door.
My sales bimbo got me all accessories for wholesale (20% over invoice) and I'm doing all the work myself (wouldn't recommend for everyone).
