Well first off you don't need a quaife it is double the price of a welded lsd, but if you got the cash quaife is the way to go. ********** sells them and they are good guys to deal with. Also while you are in there you may want to do the clutch. Things you will definitely need are main shaft bearings, and races, axle seals, main shaft seal, and possibly a new pinion gear. I just had mine done cause it blew, and now my pinion gear isn't quite meshing with the ring gear so i get a little trans whine. No big deal it wont cause any damage, but i wish i replaced it while it was apart.

if you're a member, mazda motorsports also sells them.

Everyone, you've all been great help, i just couldn't find a lot of sites offerring the Quaife to have it for the MSP? And, i found that who ever carries it for MSP, has it more expensive than Quaife makes for any other car, includeing cars like Porsche, BMW and the like!?! lol

Our car's are expensive in this regards, i just don't want to pay 1600 for the Quaife LSD, it sounds too much!

1600 isn't too much, but factor in the associated costs of parts, labor and time, and youwill be more like $2500. At that point you might as well get the trans upgrade kit from Protegegarage.com. too.

This will be the most expensive mod on my car - for stage 2 of the STX build, but I plan on getting a seperate trans to mod so I do not have to ever open the case on my original one.

I just need to find one that has the upgraded forks etc, then you have to have the case slightly machined for clearance for the quaiffe (I think the can be done with a air dremel and some patience) and get the ARP bolts. Then you'll want shift bushings, short shifter, new clutch, flywheel etc, it cascades...

One thing I will say for sure, the 2004 SRT-4 I had had a Quaife and it was amazing the difference in how it pulled out of corners unlike the MSP (which is still great by most means). Of course having 260 ft/lbs of torque could have helped too!

I thought there was a how to on installing a Quaife, but all I see is one on trans tear down. This will be my winter project and I will detail it very closely.

I also am building a new motor to the limits of the STX rules as far as over sizing bores, balancing and blueprinting etc.

So if anyone has an FSDE for sale in the NW or NorCal I'm interested!

I am having 450 injectors put in today and then i have to go for a dyno tune today as well. Let's see how that goes!

Good luck with all your future upgrade projects, i look forward to seeing your Quaife install details on here soon!
