Wow, that's a damn old post and please forgive some of my bad grammar, I must have been half asleep when I made that post. No one ever answered the Miata idea, but I'm sure you could probably PM Keith@FM Protege for that info or do a search on a Miata message board. Anyhow, most people bailed on the idea of using the S-AFC becuase of it's inability to tune throughout the rev band (damn ECU). I'm sure it's still possible, but it will require quite a bit of thinking and tuning. On another note, try piggyback (Haltech) or stand alone (Microtech). The Haltech unit is currently being used by HiBoost on their turbo kit and the Microtech is having the last few wrinkles ironed out by Spoolin for use on their kit. I spoke to APEXi about a month ago when I first brought the use of the S-AFC
. There "currently" is now map for our Protege's. We also need to know what voltage our sensor operates at, "it has to 5-volts". If not it could lead to some serious problems. I'll explain why if you want to know. If were lucky, the miata (which they do have a map for) uses the same sensor as we do. If so, we can just use the maps they have programmed in the S-AFC for the Miata on our MP3 and tune on a Dyno from there to get the proper settings.
I hope we use the same one or it's experimentation time.
