hey i guys i have focus Zx3 and i am looking to stick a mazdaspeed3 motor in it. i just cant find anyone that is selling it, so i was woundering if u guys knew where i could get my hands on one. if not ill just go with the 2.3 focus engine its the same thing.

You could also go with the Volvo 5 cylinder turbo as they put those in the Focus in Europe. A little extra boost and you could make the same power if not more. Some of the models were rated at 300 HP.

Call Mazda.

Ask for a motor.

Done and Done.

Although, you're better off trading in the zx3 and getting a speed3.

Swapping the Turbo 2.3L into anything that wasn't designed for it sounds like the biggest headache the world could know. Just buy an MS3 and get yourself a better car overall.

isnt the ms3 motor a turbocharged focus engine so in a way it is designed for a focus. i like my focus and it is lighter than the ms3. ive thought of calling mazda but it will be very expensive to go through them but i might do it if i can find one somewhere else but thanks for the help guys.

why not just get a turbo kit and build the motor...probably the same $$ as a longblock, for better results?

It is not a focus engine. (no)
It is a Mazda design that Ford adopted after dropping the zetec engine.

The motors arent the same, the Mazdaspeed3 engine has direct injection.

Plus, if you were to undertake the enormous and expensive task of swapping you'd have to get a cpu as well. And seeing how limited the tuning solutions for this car are right now, you'd be hard pressed to get it running properly without spending even more money at the dyno.

Just get a turbo kit. I used to own an SVT Focus, so i know the forced induction kits available are numerous and more affordable. Vortech's supercharger makes great power for the money, just as an example.

Think about it this way, in what other circumstance have you ever seen a motor from one company swapped into a car from another company? The only time i have is cars from the 60s. It's just never done, because its so cost prohibitive you might as well just buy the car with the engine already in it.

1. we dont share much with usdm focus its the european focas we share comonality with. 2. eec is diffrent from all the engines. 3. stand alone is a b witch to hoock up and get tuned and stay tuned. 4. cheeper options that will yeild more power. (we are limmited by injectors and fuel supply from extrem high pressure pump)

p.s. AG Design i agree not many hybrids except for the hondas and there is the ls1 pofered FJ and others others intermixed here and there most are same brand mabe even an option elseware

dont think it will fit also!
the standard 3 cant take them without moving the firewall back Mazda had to open up th eengine bay more to get it to fit!

the block the same, just better internals, and the injection is diffrent!

and best bet to find a used motor
