Longest on a tankfull

the fact that its a 2L engine doesn't really have anything to do with this ... first of all, we (MSP drivers) have to use at least 91 octane gaz, but because my boost is set higher than stock and other mods to my car, i chose to use Petro Canada's 94 octane.

I also have the MPI fuel management and make it send a bit more fuel.

94 octane went up to 1.07,9$ last year, but let's says 1$ a liter for 94 octane, times 50 (50 liters at least), so 50$ for about 4 days sometimes 5. That's more than 60$ / week

you probably put 87 octane in your P5 and drive less than me and your car doesn't drink as much as mine

Oh okay, now i understand, i forgot having a turbo makes you use more gas, and i also forgot u need good quality gas. i use "regualr" on all my cars, it doesnt matter to me cus all my cars are leases.

some where around 430 a couple summers ago......took 13.4 gallons to fill. had about a gallon left in the tank.......

I've been filling up at least twice a week. I'm using more gas with this car then I did with my Jeep.I get shifting at 5000 every single days isn't the best way to save gas...

I say winter : 425km - 450km

Summer: 450km - 475km

driving inside montreal, using the metropolitain 50% of time..

The best I ever got was 560 kilometers on a full tank and the light did not even come on, I'm sure I could have gone past 600 kilometers. It was on a road trip to Qubec city from Montreal and back with a detour to St-Casimir both ways. I filled up a lil after Trois-Rivires on the way back. And this is with a 3.0L V6 and in winter.

the 6 has probably better gearing than our 2.0L transmission ... Mickey, how high does your engine rev at while you're ont he highway ? that's probably why you get better mileage .. i wish my 5th gear would be longer

Cruise control and Gas station

I've had the P5 for 3 years now, and since the moment I could use the cruise control (at about 5000km) I have noticed how bad it "hunts". Mine is 2km/h. It constantly accelerates/decelerates 2km/h, all the time (and dealer says it's normal...). Lately, I tried a different way to set the speed and it only hunts 1km/h. Since then mileage is a bit better.

Gasing up : I noticed that when filling at the station, if the rear is a bit higher than the front, I can pump more gas in. The station where I usually fill up has a bit of a slope so I can park the car to raise the rear end. Plus is that I can drive a bit more between fills.

Anybody else has a bad cruise control?

I dont use the cruise control, but you were the one who told me about it.

I do notice it...and lately, the dealer flashed my car...so I can recheck it.

5th gear at 115 km/h, I am at 3000 rpm. But I usually got a bit faster, between 120-130 km/h.

correct me if i'm wrong, you had a 3 GT and then the 6 GT....what's next? RX-8?

someone's here have too much money.. (lol2)

I'm not from Canada but thought I would share:

I've gone something like 297 miles and the lights was on and averaged 23 mpg. I live in Vegas and I'm in bumper to bumper traffic quite a bit here. That and a ton of stop and go all day long and with summer here the A/C will be on all day as well.

I would have to look but how big is the gas tank of the MSP??

Well, after having the rear brakes fixed (they were seized) and now that the temps are getting a bit warmer, fuel mileage is getting better : 681.0 km (423.2miles) on a tankfull this week. That's 8.01 l/100km or 35.3mpg IMP or 29.4mpg US.

Pumped 54.6 litres of gas in this morning (capfull that is). No idea how much was left in the tank, but low fuel warning had been on for about 10km.

Quite sure I could get better mileage on a long drive. Found that if I drive at below 3000RPM (about 110km/h), results are quite good.

Still think this car is a guzzler for a 2L...

did alot of highway on the weekend... end result: 395mi and i pumped exactly 12gallons at the station when the light came on... so 32.92 mpg
