The wife, the dog and myself took my wifes new 2003 P5 from Chicago to Tucson and back last month and I have to tell you the car was a real pleasure to drive. The only negative was the down-shifting in the mountains otherwise the car performed very well and has plenty of room. I'm 6' 2" and need to strech my legs out fully to drive the 13-14 hours a day that the trip calls for.

what was your mileage?? I was surpised to realize I just ot 30mpg's in the city without changing my driving habits....it seems highway driving for me only gets me about 25 or so...with the cruise on.

I never kept track this time. When we left Ill. the car had a little over 1000 miles on it. On our next trip I will keep track.

I drove mine from NJ to Canada and I found that it gets worse gas mileage when I use cruise control.. a lot worse. I got about 24-25 mpg with cruise and about 30 without. I noticed that when driving up a hill auto tranny will down shift to keep the speed up and will stay at the lower gear longer than it needs to in my opinion. I think that contributes to the poor mpg.
