Lock spare key in car

:
2016 CX-5 Grand Touring AWD
I am having a trailer hitch installed and I won't be able to pick my 2016 CX-5 up until after they close for the evening. Is there a way to lock the spare key in the car without it alarming?

Thanks!

If you leave a key in the vehicle it will automatically be 'deactivated' after some time, so it can't be used to start the engine. You will need to 'reactivate' it by pressing the unlock button. This is described in the manual.

You can pop the key out of the keyless fob and keep the key on your person and the fob in the car if you like. You will have to manually lock the doors using the key.

When you say "without it alarming ", do you mean you want to lock the car without factory alarm on with fob inside? Wrap aluminum foil around the fob and set it inside. The aluminum interferes with the reception of the fob. I keep a spare fob inside the car with the metal key on the outside in case I mistakenly lock myself out 🖖🏽
