I was among the first to have one in Canada so I paid MSRP for mine. I actually leased so my APR for a 48 month lease was 5.4% (5.9% less .5% loyalty discount). I put $0 down so my lease payment on a closed end lease was $715 CAN/ month including taxes. Somewhat steep I know, but you pay a premium for exclusivity and I use it as a company car for my wife's business so that I can write off a portion of the lease payment.

PM ottawaP5 and ask him what he paid. He purchased his much more recently so he will be able to give you a better idea of current prices. He got a really good deal IIRC.

What I find funny about the Mazdaspeed6 reviews is that very few people know what cars to compare it too.

I find the best reviews compare the Mazspeed6 GT to the Subaru Legacy GT Spec.B. That's very fair, and also a very close comparision. Mostly a matter of preference. Some also mention the Dodge Charger RT AWD, which is also not such a bad comparison. Even the comparisons to the Infiniti G35x aren't too bad, even though this is a luxury car with no manual transmission and about $5-6k more expensive.

But some people make ridiculous comparisions. For example some authors compare the Mazdaspeed6 to the STI and Evo. That's really not fair, because those aren't cars that you can seat 4 comfortably.

Some reviewers go the other direction and complain that the Mazdaspeed6 lacks a lot of the frills found on the Mercedes C-Class, BMW 3-Series and Audi A4. Those cars cost $10k more!
