Jay-z is like the rest of the rappers in the world. Nothing new. and Sure he may have some great beats, but god damn. The lyrics suck... we get it, your number 1, your best rapper, the ghetto is hard to grow up in, yes youe were a big time drug dealer, player and gangbanger, you have the most money, and a the new escalade with 24s. we get it now...

Not all rap is like that, though. Most of the commercial rap that gets played on the radio and MTV and whatnot is -- and hence, those that aren't really into the rap and hip-hop genres figure that's ALL it's about. And it's not. Take the time to actually LISTEN to a few of Jay-Z's cd's .. and others like Eminem, the ones that've been around, not the newcomers .. and what you hear may surprise you. There's some rap songs out there that are strikingly well thought out and discuss some pretty serious issues.

And even some songs that have been popular -- what about 'Stan' by Eminem and raps like that? Hardly bling-bling, look at me and what I thug I am.

Maybe i like some Comercial music, and sometimes i like the underground style, but at the end of the day; what CD's i actually buy will be what i enjoy listening too, regardless of their popularity w/ the rest of the world. I personally think LP kicks ass...! and i have started listening to some of jay-Z's music, so i am definately lookin forward to it, but i will msotly likely DL'd it first then if i like it i will go out and add it to the collection...

actually i grew up listening to rap music. and listen to rap when things in the ghetto were a problem. now rappers just glorify it cause its cool to be a pimp and player, instead of trying to fix the problems they are just creating more problems with their music. And I actually eminems first 2 cds in my collection and they are good. after that he got old and was just doing the same thing over and over again. I have downloaded Jay-z and was not impressed, and just deleted. if you want good rap listen to run-dmc, grand master flash, krs-one, nwa, ice-t, kool mo dee.... you get the point. the last cds i bought were KMFDM, The clash, pennywise.

also MTV is an insult to society. **** MTV and TRL.

^^agreed about the eminem, even on his new cd he still talks about his wife/daughter and the same stuff, and yes i did listen to the entire cd, one good song on it though i thought was the toy soldier song.
