I came across some Lexus IS300 HID bulbs at work. Switched them with my Audi bulbs.

The IS300 has a lens similar to the P5 light, And the bulb is different than regular HID bulbs. It has gray painted on the top of the bulbs to cut the reflections down on the top of the beam.

This is the beam of the Audi bulbs, aimed way low to help against blinding oncoming drivers.

Excellent....your retrofit is one of the best ones i've seen so far.

Thanks!

I've argued the fact that the IS300 lights have an optional HID package, but use the same housing. The bulbs are partially paintd to eliminate glare. I guess this would be proof!

That's really good information. Maybe Lexus engineers took the time to put the extra R&D into designing housings that would work for both Halogen and HID.

I think it's mostly that the bulbs are painted though.

NICE! (2thumbs)

That's good to know for future referance. :) The beam pattern looks 100% better.

hmm, do you think this would work with any set of balasts and ignitor(sp?) combo? i have the Catz 4500k kit, and would LOVE to have a cut off beam like that, so if i just buy the is300 bulbs would it be cool

Yeah that probably makes a big difference. It would be interesting to take some high temp paint and paint a regular HID bulb and compare the two.
