Nice work guys!

Evan- do you want to do something about that rust before dropping the new motor in? Now would be the time. lol

Also- if it's still available/good, I think I'm going to take your radiator as well, save me another $110 on this build. Worst case, if it craps out later, it'll only cost me the price of a gallon of A/F more as opposed to just getting a new one now.

Thanks for posting up the pics, Wes! And for the witty picture comments.

I hate rust. Josh, how should I take care of the rust in the bay? Cut out the rusted panels and weld in new ones? I don't know how to do any of that. I could coat it in Por-15 to stop the rust, then paint over it. But if you siad there's probably a hole there already that's not helping much. The KL won't be going in for a few days so I can run the new harness and clean the engine bay. I are sad. :(

ps- you can have my radiator/fan set up, no problem. They've worked flawlessly for me and no issues.

Mmmm Kl swap. I wish I lived somewhere where this swap was legal :(. Oh well who knows maybe Ill be living somewhere else if/when I decide I want to go KL. Anyway, GL with the swap man!

Yea, first step would be to clean all the scale and loose stuff off, and see how bad it is under there. If there's a hole, we can cut out the bad and weld a patch in there. Then, either finish it off with filler, prime, then paint so it looks factory, or just POR-15 and top coat over that.

hey sleezer you do know that we live in the same state right? o wait that reminds me i have no clue how i am getting it on the road when im done lol

Just remember that this is supposed to be a project not meant to be completed overnight. I mean, really, what are you going to do with it when it is all done? Drive it, exactly how you drove it when you pulled the FS-DE (albeit with 200 HP)! You've done such clean and excellent work thus far, make sure you finish it off strong! It really looks like it is coming together at the end. So clean up that engine bay, add all sorts of shiny bits, and then get this thing back on the road. Nice work!

Whew. Yet another busy day. I'm exhausted. And I'm old.

Well, Wes, Pablo and I got the flywheel, clutch and tranny mounted up. Everything looks pretty good. Wes and I stared at the wiring harness for about 20mins then decided to just run both harnesses/ECU's like everything else to cut down on some of the headache. I'm going to start on the harness(es) Tuesday. I need a break. heh-heh.

Oh, the big relief was that my intermediate shaft wasn't going to line up, it does perfectly. Whew. JDM parts FTW. I'm sure Wes will be by shortly with some pics.

And anyone want to buy an AEM cold air intake in great condition, let me know. I've got pics. :)

I think that's exactly what we need to hear. I find myself getting impatient wanting to get it all bolted in and fired up because I'm absolutely dying to hear it. The sound of a KL is one of the things that keeps me going in life. But more importantly, there's no replacement for that feeling you get when you know you did everything right and didn't cut any corners.

Btw, Evan, that chunk of rust on the left wheel well is showing through on the other side (inside the wheel well). It looks like a single layer of metal, so it should be pretty easy to cut out and form a replacement. Lol, I can just see this statement coming back to haunt me later...

Here are the only pictures worth posting. The only other ones were blurry, or show less than these show. It didn't feel like a productive day, since we've reached the hard part of the project.

New clutch stuff bolted on

Trans on, and intermediate shaft bearing housing bolts fit, as shown. Evan took this picture, so he might turn out to be a camera guy himself someday. ;)

Sweet man, thanks for the link. I'll read it all tomorrow. Just skimmed it and looks like his P5/KL project is going on 3 years. heh-heh. Yikes.

And my gf's friend said I looked yesterday too. Awesome! I'm 32.

How's your swapping coming along, brotha?

looks great buddy. did you ever get an lsd i cant remember. and please tell me you're gonna put a coat of paint in the engine bay

I skipped the LSD since I've got the 170hp motor. Not like you big boys with the 200hp. And I bought some silver Por-15 for the engine bay today. I was debating going flat black on the engine bay but changed my mind.

I'll have to talk to you about the rust in the bay. Honestly, the picture makes it look a lot worse than it is. Like I said, I got some Por-15 to stop the rust and will clean it and paint it. And asking you to come over and do patchwork would be a tall order for me to ask such a feat.

Evan great work so far man. I haven't posted on here in a long time but I figured I'd check in on this. Keep it up man!

My man, Ivan. Looking forward to helping you move in up here in Cleveland, mate. And car shopping with ya soon perhaps? Muhaha. Tessa will make you some cookies, fo sho.

Yea, bringing my welder over would be a pain. hehe I could bring my body work tools over though to help clean it up a bit.

Haha hell yea man. I'm pretty excited about everything. It should be awesome. I will definitely be car shopping soon after I start my job. I've gone through wanting about 10 different cars in the last couple months lol. I think I'm gonna stick with the familia though and go with a 1st gen MS3. Regardless of what I get, I cannot wait to get whatever it is.
