Other than the fact that it is an OCCUPIED SECTION of Bagdad that the general public is not allowed into.

So I guess the rest of Bagdad is "UNSAFE" then. At least you admit that.

You would have to be a fool to think that anywhere is safe in Bagdad. That is the Wild Wild West out there.

Also, where the do you think we have troops at? Of course the area is temporarly occupied, give me a break man.

Just pointing out your contradictory statements..sorry(peep)

Not sure where this thread is going...but anyways here is my 2 cents. The Bush Administration from my view is increasing terrorism and American hatred with its extreme foreign policy, just look at the recent UN convention, the Venezualan prez Hugo Chaves calling bush the devil. I'm no expert on American politics, but from my outside view it looks scary with what might happen in the years to come with the way Bush is running the show, he is pissing off so many people and helping to breed hatred, he says he is winning the war on terror, but from what I can see its the complete opposite.

I agree.

Use your head, the statements do not contradict.

When there is talk about a place being occupied, it means there is a settlement and eventually government by the home country.

It is totally retarded to compare the two.

You are right, you aren't an expert, you aren't even educated on the subject of politics and world affairs.

Do you really take to heart what Chavez says? He is friends with Castro. Chavez is just looking for attention.

You believe that America is to blame because that is what you are fed on television. If you look deeper into the subject you will find the light.

I personally Bush should be harder and the military should strike with incredible force in Iraq, Afghanistan, Sudan, and eventually if need be, Iran.

The problems we are facing still would have come had Bush not been in the White House. I feel we would have been attacked more.

The dept is 8.5 Trillian dollars, the war is languishing, the Taliban and the insurgences are gaining in strength. The money that should have gone for reconstruction has been siphoned off from profiteering and mismanagement. The whole war was misdirected and under funded. Iraqs are dying every day in a civil war that our news wont even acknowledge. The death toll runs into the thousands some days. This is just one arena that the administration can be judge by, and it is a complete failure.
We should be deeply ashamed at what weve done, or what theyve done in our name with our tax money.

...then go live under Chavez in Venezuela. His opinion holds no clout.

Would you rather we have ignored Saddam and let him do what he wants?

Just because things aren't as bad as they could be in America doesn't mean that it's not time for a change.
Yes, Chavez is the better man. I don't want to live there though.

That says a lot about you.

Explain why Chavez is better (not why Bush is bad).

I'm sorry but your defeateist attitude really just is impossible for me to fathom. The national debt is not good true. The war while not going as well as it could is by no means a failure. They have held elections and the govt. is holding together despite the worst intentions of suicidal maniacs. The management of funds while not perfect is still getting the money where it's needed on some levels, and despite the mainstream media hoping and praying for a civil war the secterian violence is not quite there yet. I trust the word of the generals on the ground and the Iraqi leadership who are actually there. I"m not for one second ashamed of what the men and women in the armed forces did to liberate the Iraqi people so please keep your shame and guilt to yourself.

As for Hugo Chavez, he is a kook dictator who comes to OUR country to make a bid for a seat on the UN security counsel by taking cheap shots and resorting to spewing vile to gain point with people who hate America anyways and then tries to garner American support by offering cheap heating oil? Screw him! He very same vile he comes here and spews, he would imprison a citizen of his own nation if they ever tried to practice that freedom of speech and criticize him. Chavez is a Joke and I'm glad the President did not give him or that kook from Iran the time of day.

So you be ashamed all you want. I want no part of your shame. I'm proud that the U.S and it's leadership have the balls to stand in the face of evil...yup I said it evil. They have not been perfect in how they have handled it and mistakes have been made but by goodness at least they are doing SOMETHING and taking the fight to the enemy who brutally killed 3000 citizens on 9/11.

Thats my opinion and you're entitled to yours but like I said cut the "we" crap out. You be ashamed if you want. I AM NOT ASHAMED!:)

The green Zone is an occupied zone of Iraq. Iraqs laws do not apply there. iraqi folks are not permitted inside it's walls unless they are working for our government. I call that an occupation.

Retarded no...a different opinion yes. ease up big shooter.

I hate to do it but here it is...

occupation (ky-pshn) KEY

NOUN:

An activity that serves as one's regular source of livelihood; a vocation.
An activity engaged in especially as a means of passing time; an avocation.

The act or process of holding or possessing a place.
The state of being held or possessed.

Invasion, conquest, and control of a nation or territory by foreign armed forces.
The military government exercising control over an occupied nation or territory.

So what does it say about me?

That was kind of an off the cuff statement to show my disdain for Bush, but the more I read about Hugo Chavez, the more I come to realize that it was the truth. HC has done a lot for his county, not the least of which has been to stand up to America and its private interests. Exxon Mobil, Pat Robertson, Bush and co. He is the founder of the Bolivarian Revolution which is stellar compared to George Bush.

Components of Chvez's Bolivarianism

In recent years, its most significant political manifestation is in the government of Venezuela's president Hugo Chvez, including changing the 1999 Constitution and Venezuela's name to the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, and other ideas such as the Bolivarian Schools, Bolivarian Circles, and the Universidad Bolivariana de Venezuela. Often, the term Bolivarianism is used specifically to refer to Chvez's rule. The central points of Bolivarianism, as extolled by Chvez, are:[citation needed]
1. Venezuelan economic and political sovereignty (anti-imperialism).
2. Grassroots political participation of the population via
popular votes and referenda (participatory democracy).
3. Economic self-sufficiency (in food, consumer durables, et cetera).
4. Instilling in people a national ethic of patriotic service.
5. Equitable distribution of Venezuela's vast oil revenues.
6. Eliminating corruption.

Very well said!

If they didnt lie about why we had to go to war, I may feel differently. If we had at least tried to stop the looting that took place after we occupied the country. If we werent so eager to get all those new bases built, and if we hadnt pumped all that un-metered oil from their oil fields. What we get are a steady stream of no bid contracts, inadequate armor, and stories about how our puppet government is going to take over eventually. Our people are being tortured to death because turnabout is fair play. Rumsfeld is being called an incompetent leader by several retired generals. Many many national organizations have condemned the US for our actions. Some say war crimes may be investigated. Even the UN said this was an illegal war.

What more do you need to be outraged by this travesty? What would have to happen for you to finally see that what we have done was and is wrong. 26 hundred Americans, and over a 100 thousand innocent Iraqis dead. The only way to hit bottom is to quite digging the hole deeper.

To avoid the so called "occupation", our troops would have to live in hotels or something. Yes, it it tecnically occupied, but it a base of operations, not a new home for a colony. You are making a mountain out of a molehill.
