Sup everyone. so ill get rite to it.. went to work yesterday and normally ill open the store and let my car idle for a couple of min before i turn it off. yesterday i had a line of people outside and it got so busy i forgot my car was on. about 45min to and hr went by before i walked outside and heard my car running. i know letting her idle for a couple min is good for the turbo but letting it run too much i d/k. Am i in some trouble or am i worrying for no reason. any input would be appreciated. thanx.

that's why you have a radiator and cooling fans

o god the car is going to explode (>.<) lawls your fine one day i left my truck on 4 hours untill it ran out of gas ..bad memory

Considering how rich the DISI runs, it might be a good idea go take it on a highway run and give it an 'Italian Tune-up'.....meaning drive it for a while at higher rpms to burn out any carbon buildup you might have accumulated in the turbo or cats. Working at a shop in Wyoming, I saw more than a few cars come in with plugged cats due to extended idling...but that was in a cold climate where exaust temps don't get very high when a car sits idling.

In any case, you haven't hurt anything.

Did you check your temps and oil level...? If they are fine, they just run her hard and wide open to clean her up internally.

Even with fans and all, the engine will slightly overheat...what I mean is it will run hotter than usual by letting it idle so long; especially if the ambient temps are high. Just check the oil level and open her up.

Sorry to threadjack, but this post made me think of my friend who just let his car idle for about 4 hours. Went to the casino and got out of his car, locked the doors, and left while the car was running. Came back 4 hours later to find out that he had locked his keys in the car and it was still running. Something about him and casinos...last time he drove an hour and a half home with the E-brake on while asking everyone if they were hearing a dinging sound.
