Leaving Mazda MP3

I'm sorry to say to my fellow members that i'm trading in my mp3 for a 02 civic si! After sunday that just past was the last straw when she didn't start for the 5th time. I had been going back and forth to the dealer on this issuse, after changing the batt twice, radio once and now they claimin it's the heating/a/c system. I love the car but i can't afford a problematic vechicle when it's a must to drive to work and back home(90min drive).:'(

I'm still check in on the site to see progress, i still love the looks of the mp3 but i can't stand for that much problem from starter, spring, radio, batt and now a/c-heating system!

Are you getting a refund under the lemon law?

Civic Si = dead last in latest SCC comparison test
Did you think about getting something else?

Whatever you get, have fun with your new car.

i tried to fight w/ the lemon law, but do to the fact that mazda can fix it and continue to fix it, i can't fight them too much on it, so i took it back to the auto group and they giving me 16k for the car and i'm getting the civic si for 16k, i just have the balance of my loan to pay out which is not much. Keep in mind I still love the car just can't take the headache it gave me

I hear ya bro, MIne has been on my nerves as of late and maybe going away soon but I can say I fortunitly haven't had that many issues with it.

Civics may not win the comparisin tests anymore but those test don't take reliability into account for any longer then they test them. You should be fine with the civic, I think I would take a carrola.

Civics and Corollas are step down, man.

Buy a new MSP or a Bora Turbo, and you will be happy!

WRX or Mitsu Lancer are another option? Don't be average, Corollas, Civics, Sentras are whey too bland in mine opinion.

It sucks that your MP3 is giving you problems... Have you added anything aftermarket to it? (alarms, chips, ect...) Maybe it's not a Mazda problem, or is it?

Hard to believe though, my P5 has been flawless. 6k on the clock and no problems whatsoever.

Are you sure you wanna get a civic?:D

In his defense I am never getting another Mazda, I wouldn't go for a civic either though.

that sucks man....It really does.... I can say that I havent had any problems with mine besides the clunck which was fixed...This is my 1st Japanese car, I always drove 5.0 or 4.6 mustangs that for the most part were reliable..BUT drank alot of gas and alot more insurance than my MP3. I must say that I love my mazda and I will have another mustang in the future, but as a weekend car. I wish you all the best with the new Si, and you know that someone is gonna buy your MP3 and have zero problems with it. Trust me I know all about that when I sold my lemon 87 t-bird turbo coupe......BUT thats a whole other story, I hated that car for all the problems it gave me....
Best of luck,
Pete

(bluemp3) #478 and I still love it
MODS:
Polished intake with K&N
Kartboy shifter,bushings and knob

well i choose the civic b/c of the price, getting it for 15, 500 and they buyin my car for 15,400 not bad.

GXL: the only aftermarket part i put on her is a custom piping and apexi exhuast.

Tell you the truth, I haven't been all that impressed with how my dealer is handling my situation of me trying to get out of the mp3 and into the msp. They know it clunks, they know they can't fix it, and now they know it's going to be a problem when trying to sell it. SO, they haven't actually stated a real trade in price yet outside of hinting something much lower then I want. Their excuse was, it's just in case they can't sell it for what it's worth.

Bottom line is. I want the MSP. I don't want anything else from Mazda. If I've gone through this misery of getting bushings done monthly for over a year, and if I don't get offered something sensible......my car won't be another Mazda. It just isn't worth it. I will have lost too much money, not to mention personal and professional time to justify another mazda.

You say your MP3 has starting problems? What does it do? If it starts sometimes and sometimes doesn't, and you have tried a new batt, check the grounds.

There are a few ground straps bolted to the frame. The same thing happened to me, thought it was the batt, but a ground had come off.
