Launching the MSP

Just curious what everyone revs to when they launch thier msp at the track. I rev to 3000, does that sound right 2 anyone?

I normally do a massive burnout. I rolled out of it around 2700 with a touch of spin. 15.12 at 91 but that was when it was bone stock

the LSD should help with launches. everybody is going to react differently to the car and will let the clutch out sooner or rev higher and feather it out more. depends on the person.

so i'm guessing since you've "tuned" it and taken the cat-back off you'll gain about 2-3seconds on that time right?

Well not 13's yet but I hope around 14.3-14.6. which still isn't that bad. I put the exhaust back on and it made a world of difference..............SLOWER much slower.

you've tuned it? how?
what are your mods?

It's an inside joke between Twiztedjeckel and myself.

CAI, APEXi filter
Open cat back
MBC 9PSI
Boost gauge
Ground kit
HKS SSQ
REDLINE 10W30, MT-90, WATTERWETTER

I have basically the same mods as you so I dont douobt you can run a low 14 (I think i can, but i've only been to the track twice with this setup and each time i've encountered problems).

on a side note, does the grounding kit make a difference?

lawerence to answer your question, Yes it did. I went to tweeter and bought about 10 feet of 10 gauge monster cable wire, then I went to circut city and bought 8 gold plated ring terminals. Total was around $27.00. I grounded the alternator chassis, the two coils (under the V/C cover of course) and the head. I felt a difference every time I touched the gas, not like HP but like an immediate responce to the throttle input. I figured for $27.00 and a half an hour if it didn't do anything it would look cool under the hood, but I promise it is functional.

Just make sure the ring terminals are big enough for a 10MM bolt. I spent about $20.00 on thoes alone the wire was only $.75 a foot

lol i did the same...i'm not paying $150 for a "brand name" grounding kit

yeah i've only done the head and alternator...i'm gonna do the coil packs tommorrow :)

Instead of putting it on top of the coil pack wedge it between the V/C and the coil, and even better do it to the right bolt on each

Amazing the information I've found while looking for other information!! You guys should put the "grounding kit" information on a top-line post or FAQ... or is it somewhere else? Sounds like a great, "makes sense" mod, and cheap to boot!

I used this grounding trick back in the days of my RX-7s. It really did help out quite a bit with throttle response and dimming of lights at night when idling.
