so i have 7500 miles on my 07 speed3 and made an apt for oil change and scheduled maintenance, on the mazdausa site it shows 7500 miles check valve clearance as part of the service. ( i thought fine they just want to see that the lash between lobe of cam and follower is at normal parameters)
dealer had no clue what i was talking about , so i guess thats there for nothing since i assume we have hydraulic cams. i tell them thats ok fine, just change my oil and i brought my own synthetic...guy says : it's gonna void your warranty , why? not sure he says , another clown says this turbo breaks down the oil differently, i am thinking :theres friction and temperature thats it!!! so they have me check off that i understand that it may void my warranty the use of synthetic. I get my car back after one hour and go immediately for the trunk and sure as s*** my oil is still in the pepboys bags....i got nuts and tell the guy ..what the fff???i show him my floor mat and its got white paint on it from one of the mechanics or the guy that brings in the car , what the fffff???? they check the sheet and say ...sorry the mechanic f up but did put in mobil 1 synthetic and the guy has the balls to ask me if i wanna trade oil??? i told him nope and left. I went to tech school for 5-6 years have machined, assembled and installed from 400hp to 600hp chevy street motors to a 1500hp nitromethane blown hemi for a streamliner that ran 400mph + at boneville so I have enough experience to get by when it comes to car work (of course that was 12 years ago so I am not an authority on computer tuning vehicles in the least) , not one tech could explain why synthetic wasnt recommended , this engineer said that engineer , bulls***. if someone has some facts and some credible sources i am all ears and will learn the reasons but all you get is rumors at dealerships!!!
anywaus i did install my ms CAI last night and car feels slightly quicker so definately worth it and from now on I will do my own oil changes...f the dealership.

thats some funny s***. synthetic oil does not void a warranty just because its synthetic. what could void your warranty if the oil you use is rated less then what is required. lets say you require SA and use SJ. That would void your warranty.

Well, it sounds like you know cars pretty well, even if it's primarily old American iron. Regardless, a little help on electronics here and there from this forum, and you should be fine without the dealership. :)
