I've been patiently waiting for a reputable company to come out with aftermarket shocks and it seems that KONI is the first (I think) to cater to the CX5. Their online catalog now shows that they will be releasing KONI Yellows (adjustable) and Koni FSD (non-adjustable) struts this spring. See WEBSITE pics below.

I'm pretty stoked for this! I was planning to go either eibach pro-kit (via int'l seller on ebay) or H&R springs this summer so now I will definitely be picking up KONI Yellows to go along with either springs.

Just wanted to share the news if anyone else was waiting around. I would assume that KYB and Tokico aren't far behind with their product releases for the CX5 so there should be more options coming but I'm excited to try KONI as I've heard mostly great things about them.

Auto exe has had dampers for a long time now. Btw that site is often overpriced.i found that requesting an item at japanparts is much cheaper. I asked them about auto exe adjustable front endlinks and the site manager added them 2 days later like $50 cheaper than autostyle (btw autostyle has and english website)

True, I have seen those and the KYB SR Special D_Frost mentioned, but not sure if either of them are going to make their way to the N.A market while the KONI's indicate they will. Just figure its easier for warranty, return, etc. buying an item spec'd for the N.A market.

Agree on japanparts being cheaper. I ordered the crystal eyes tails from them last summer for $600 shipped and had them at my doorstep in less than a week too.

yea, that's partly why I decided against tein for my coil over and ended up ordering bc's; NA support. The tein for the cx-5 is special order JDM only.

Chris - did you get your coilovers on yet? I'm looking forward to seeing how they feel as I may be in the market for coilovers if the price of aftermarket shocks and springs approaches the BCs or Teins.

About damn time we get Koni Yellows. I wonder if their perch height is 1/2" lower for the CX-5 as well, thus lowering it by 1/2" just by changing to Koni's. There are a few Koni's for existing cars that have the same perch height difference.

Not sure I would change shocks/struts/dampers for a 1" drop with a pro-kit, unless needed for show or racing purpose, but not for daily driver. Maybe I would consider them if doing a serious drop with corksport 3" springs. Are these Koni shorter or stock length?

No. They are supposed to come tomorrow

great news...Koni Yellow's usually go for around $450-550, add that to a set of $225-250 springs and definitely not a bad setup for the pricing. Wonder how well CorkSport springs will be now with the Koni's. who's going to be the guinea pig!?! :)

This is possible for sure...."baby, it's not lower, honest"

Was just on tirerack.com and they are now listing the Koni Shocks as in stock and for sale!!!

I have h&r springs, what would be the benefit to changing out oem shocks for these?

The Koni's sports are valved for lowering springs. Hopefully the Koni's would get rid of the mini bounce from the H&R's. Also with the Sports, there's an adjustment on top where you can dial in the stiffness.

seems like the koni yellow and gold fsd shocks go for around the same price but which would be the better option. fsd = automatic suspension adjustments and yellow = manual suspension adjustments. seems like gold is the way to go if i'm not mistaken

I would like to find out more, about these shocks. I have never had aftermarket shocks, on any of my previously owned vehicles.

same here. i've been doing research on various forums about koni paired w eibach and h&r springs and heard nothing but great things about them except the fsd, those are a hit or a miss as for longevity.
