keyless remote ques

Hello to All,

I had the weekend from Hxll. My AC at our country place went out Sat/Sun AM and I woke-up at 1am sweating on the couch to 88 degrees. Tried sleeping, but by 4am, decided to go to WM and buy a portable 110 AC unit...

So, since BOTH my keyless remotes will not work and I have to use the key, I spent the next 3-4 hrs looking for just the key that I never found. My wife was not happy have to drive 110 miles [r-trip] to bring me my other one.

Now since I am down to one, is there anyplace that I can get these other than the dealers? My 2009 CX9 has 89K on it and I think it is time to sell and get a truck. I would appreciate anyone's insight as to my cost-effective options. I believe I heard those keyless remotes are $280 bucks. I can press the button on my remote to open/close the car and the red light comes on, but the door locks do nothing. Also, when in the car, it will not start unless I use the key...I just bought 2 new batteries too.

Thank you very much for your help,

Not sure I understand. The key is inside the keyless remote.

Hello,

I have a similar problem...I have a 2009 Mazda CX9 that has the credit card size (slim-line) keyless remote. Both keyless remotes are in the process of failing apart and many buttons on each remote have stopped working. I have tried replacing the battery and that does nothing. So, I was wondering if anyone knows what my options might be to replace the keyless remotes?

I talked to my local Mazda dealership and this is what I found out:

1) It would cost $472 per keyless remote to purchase and to have programed.
2) I could bring in my own keyless remotes that I purchase somewhere to have programed and that would be $145 per remote. They would still charge the price even if they are unable to program the remotes I bring in.
3) They also told me...that I would have to stick with the same style of keyless remote (credit card/slim-line) and that switching to a different style (switch blade type or something else) was not an option because it wouldn't work.

It should be a crime to charge that much for either one of those two options.

I was wondering if anyone knows:

1) Is it true that I would not be able to use a different style of smart key on my 2009 CX9 other than the crappy credit card style keyless remote?
2) Any links to good places to buy replacement smart keys?
3) Do all Mazda dealers charge the same for this service?

Thanks for the help!

Sorensen,

I feel your pain and your numbers are quite close to what they told me. To add insult to injury, I lost one of my keys to one keyless remote and they want $85 for the key in addition to the keyless remote and programming. I told them I am going to go ahead and buy a truck.

My next step is get the home address of the owner of the Mazda and send a Cert-Mail RR letter to his house telling him what a pile of crap it is to charge someone $1000.00 for two remotes when I bought a $42,000 car from them. If this is the case, then you can take your CX9 GT and shove it up your axx. I am will also adamantly campaign against this dealership and Mazda as a whole for this kind of extreme gouging practice. I have had one other other remotes and they hardly ever went out and if they did, $20 bucks..

Screw MAZDA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
