key illumination green plastic (assistance needed)

Good Afternoon All,

I just upgraded to an MPV wiper switch and all went well however the key illumination green plastic popped out and I cannot figure out for the life of me how to put it back into place. Can someone help me out by just simply posting a picture of the piece or close up of the area so i can figure out how to put the thing back on lol. You can also email me the pic if that's easier. all i need is for someone to post or email me a picture of a close up of the area (key ignition/wiper switch) so I can see how to reinstall this little plastic piece. Can someone please help me out here?????????????
 
Take the top half off and scope it out. Shouldn't be that hard to find right spot. Anyone else other than those 2 parts guys mentioned above would have to do that to tell....
 
is it really that hard for someone with a P5 to just post or email me a a picture of the ignition area showing this little piece so i can figure this out?
 
With column cover off or on? Not hard either way other than having time around work and family after work to do it.........................Not trying to be dick but if so, oh well.......not hard to search on some other threads to find pics already on forum either.

Look at post #16 in this thread and see if this is what you're after....................

no with the cover on! this way i can go from there. checked that post and its the general area i need however no pic on the key illumination piece. thanks for the help!
 
I haven't looked at this in awhile but IIRC, it's just a little round thing pushed into a hole next to ignition key in the cover.

There's always the service manual..................

combination switch removal = 9-18-12

9-18-24 = IGNITION KEY ILLUMINATION BULB REMOVAL/INSTALLATION..........there is an illustration but not sure if it helps any tho. There are just 2 screws in the bottom half of the column cover facing down that hold cover to column. The halves then just pop apart from each other. Should be able to tell what's going on after you get it opened up. And this can be done without steering wheel removal.

negative results lol...do you personally have this green piece over the key as well? if so would you mind snapping a picture of the area (no need to remove the cover or anything). Just need a close up to figure this darn this out.
 
I have amber lighting on my P5 and am not in car now. I will check this out after work. Forgot to last nite, got sidetracked by wife (idhitit)
 
Right now I couldn't say I even have key illumination, that's what I was wandering around in the garage trying to figure out what I needed to do out there last nite.....I'll try again tonite.
 
OK, again with pic fail but I did go look at mine and it does have green (will have to be changed to amber now, lol) illumination for key area. The light itself is in lower half of steering column cover with clear round flat part of light facing down towards floor right above the key. If you take 2 screws out of column cover and snap the top half out of the way you should be able to tell where light goes right above key in the lower half of column cover.
 
Did a little searching on ebay under "Protege Steering Column." Don't know if it's close-up enough for you:

Previous owner probably wore jewelry and car was most likely parked in sun?...........that'll do it. Mine's garaged at home and work and I wear no jewelry so mine looks all fresh and minty like the one in the pic above. Contact scratchnsniff (member on here that is one man protg parts house) for a fresher wheel.

thanks guys for the help. Picture def helped but it seems like that P5 doesn't have the piece attached lol. Ill post a pic of the piece later on and maybe someone can enlighten me haha!
