Does anyone have this unit? You can get it for about $850 on ebay. I really want to get it but I'd like to know if it will fit for sure. Anyone have it? Here's a link...

Kenwood DDX-7015

What do you all think? (cool)

That thing is pretty sick. I'd love to get it (as it has all the features I want and need). But for $800 (and a pretty item to steal), no thanks

I own and have installed the DDX-7015 and it's a very easy fit... .take out the stock radio, put in the sleeve and you're done. I also added the Sirius and love it. Any questions, please feel free to ask!

How much did you get for it? Is it easy to disable the safety trigger so you can watch movies while the car is driving? Do you have a big system? Amps or whatnot? Is there a bad glare on the screen? Can you play DVD's that have MP3's on them? Is this too many questions?

Thanks.

I paid $1,028 for the Head Unit, wiring kit, Sirius and Antenna. Currently I don't have any amps attached, but it's just a matter of days away. In order to bypass the safty switch all you have to do is ground it somewhere... thats it! The glare isn't to bad on it but you'll need to turn the brightness up high in order to see it during the day, but if it's really sunny... forget it. You'll only catch about half of the movie. I know I can play CDR MP3 CD's, but I've yet to try the DVDr MP3 disc.

When I do add the amps I'll be using the internal croxxover to control them, it's a nice little setup and it's right at your finger tips and easy to understand.

anyone tried the video input feature...I'd love to run my haltech off my laptop but use the kenwoods screen as a touchscreen to adjust my fuel, etc.

I just bought a sweet KDC-x889 and it's awesome...almost $500 though. I heard there aren't as many controls on that ddx7015. Post again when you have amps hooked up and let me know what you think of the controls. I have visions of me driving to work watching some ho getting bent....<slap>...dammit...i've gotta wake up again! :)

If you add the Excelon amps you're suppose to be able to have full control over the amp from the head unit.

I have the AVIC-N1 in an automatic and to bypass the parking brake....i just raise the handbrake one click. As far as i can tell, there is no grip at all at one click (barely any grip fully up in an auto) but then again, i could always be wrong and killling my car haha. but i've been doing it since last summer so

that would not work, matty

Well yeah, but i really doubt the headunit has a USB or Serial connection and on top of that Kenwood would make touchscreen drivers for the computer? Not likely.\

Plus, youd have to run a Video Out from the PC,and that resolution would suck so many balls...

Lol, just ground the wire.

well you could always get a Crestron home control system. get a 10" touchpanel molded into the dash and then put the processor under the seat or something. it will control ANYTHING with RS-232. I MEAN ANYTHING!!! You can get the crestron FM tuner and have control over it as well. any 232 cd player. might be hard to find one that would fit easily in the dash, but you could always do like an audio request in the trunk and have an unlimited amount of music all accessable from the touchscreen in the dash. it's an AMAZING system but it's really pricey for the car. I install this stuff all the time in homes tho. anyway, go check out some of there stuff. and matty if you had something with RS-232 that was controlling your fuel and stuff then technically you could program that panel to display the information and give you real time control of it. it would be pretty ****** PIMP!

Well i would, but then i thought it works out well if i ever have a video running and i get pulled over. I just show the cop he must've been mistaken cause my screen only runs when the hand brake is up.

pics?

and anti-theft precautions or is it "out in plain view" 24/7

No pics right now, but I'll put some up in a few days when I get back home. As for Anti-theft is has a cute little red light that blinks to pretend that there is a security system - now you can lock it down with a 4 digit security code in case it is stolen, but that doesn't really help you if they don't know that. LOL My security - the garage and make the chicks stay at my house.
