I am about to install my TT and I need to disconnect my battery. When I turn my car on, the HU powers up and says CODE ON. I never set a security code on my radio so my dealer must have, but is it going to ask me for a code when I disconnect my battery?

I have unplug my batterie lot of time and never problem or radio asking for code ???

I have had both experiences happen, most recently, just last week after my CAI install. The head unit should only ask for the code if the code has been set and locked in previously. The code may be set by the owner or prior to the cars purchase by the dealership. Those people who have reset without it asking for the code have not had a code locked into the unit. Those of us who are asked for the code once we reset have a code locked into the unit. If you did not set the code personally and you didn't buy the car used then contact the dealer and have them tell you the code they used. Alternatively, there is supposed to be a unlock procedure which the dealership can use to reset the code if no one remembers what was used.

I did enter a code when i got the car. But from what i understood while reading the instructions, i thought it was gona ask me everytime i'd take off the face plate and put it back .. but it didn't. So i said tha hell with the code it doesnt work. That was 8 months ago ... now that it's asking me for my code, i have no idea what it is.

There's a store near my house that said he knows a guy that can do it .. but it'll cost me 50$ (CDN). I have till tuesday to find a solution, if not, ill give him my radio and pay for 50$ to have it fixed.

thanks guys

You have to enable the code in order use it, and the first time you enable it it will ask you to input one. If the code is on, that means someone has already put one in ( hopefully that was you) from my understanding. I don't even think resetting will enable it again which would defeact the purpose of the security feature, but I may be wrong. Good luck...

anyone with this problem pm me a little later tonight. i have the instructions on how to bypass at work. i'll be working 5-10:30 so just pm me then.

devilspawn: yes i put the code in myself while going through the instruction manual. but from my understanding, it was suppose to ask me to enter my code everytime id take off the face plate ... which it doesnt obviously. So i forgot about the code until last night, 8 months later. .. and now i have this 750w amp and sub ... and i cant use em =(

at least i have my apexi avc-r to play with hehehe.

afaceinthecrowd: that is GREAT news. i will PM you a bit later. thank you so much

Likewise (eyeballs)
the part you guys might not have noticed is that i put in a security code and once you do that, its suppose to ask you to type it in once you put the battery back on

the code is only for theft from vehicle...i.e. removal from vehicle of any kind, i.e. disconnection from battery. Removing the faceplate does none of these so it will no ask you for the code...sorry, I hope you remember it or get knowledge on how to bypass...

afaceinthecrowd: please get back to me man, i PMed and emailed you =)

i cant stand this lol

wasn't that easy i'm afraid

this is how i expected the code to work when i first entered it, but alas it wasn't so. the f--king code only came on after i disconnected the battery at which point like you i had forgotten the code. after alot of deliberation and thought i was able to figure it out. but beware. if you enter the wrong code several times in a row, the deck kills itself completely. at that point you can't enter any code or do anything at all with the deck. at that point the dealer has to reset the deck for you, or ship it to kenwood to have it done.
