Kazaa.. Please be careful.

My question is, why go after the users instead of the providers, or at least both. Surely the technology is out there to prevent copyright songs from being swapped. Does this mean that users can sue Kazaa for not posting warnings saying it was illegal to swap music (like "for off road use only" warnings that we see so often on cars).

this is bs, i mean, ok, sell the stupid cd's for less and people wont trade songs illegally, the entire point of these programs was for peope to get stuff cheaper cuz the asses in RIAA were selling the s*** too expensive, dunno about yall, but i cant dish out 40.00 for a couple cd's, ridiculous...

I agree with you, KYMP5, but we are all "providers" when we let others copy the songs from us. There is nothing wrong with you downloading a file from Kazaa, but when you let others access it, that is when it becomes illegal. I have a few hundred songs in my database, so I'm definately not one of the "big" targets, but IMO, I would understand getting sued. I simply clicked the box that says disable file sharing, and that's it...No more lawsuit worries:)

I disagree......you can buy individual songs online for pennies and people still download. It's easy to steal them so people steal them. Penalizing the thiefs is really the only option left to the recording industry. Like I've said before, just because you can't afford something does not give the right to steal it.....that's a cop out. I can't afford a Porsche 911 either but I wouldn't think to go boost one.

Federal Court ruled that it is no more illegal for the providers of file-sharing software to operate as it is for companies that make equipment to record DVDs, CDs, and most video equipment used to copy video. The file-sharing sites only provide the means, which right now isn't illegal.

Someone with money is goiing to get sued by the riaa and then trun around and countersue for a rediculous amount of money because they could afford an attorney. its just a matter of time before this gets turned around on the riaa and the artists. Maybe we should start a worldwide boycott of cds, yeah right never gonna happen but its a tghought.

If I read that correctly, dvd recorders and cd burners are not illegal because all you have to say is you are making back-up copies of your own stuff. That isn't illegal. As long as you have the original disc, you can back them up. Don't ask me why, because if you lose the original, then you can't prove you had it. Then it looks like you just have a copy. Makes sense to me, but it's stupid...

Law Inforcement will let many drug users slide if they can get the dealer they got the drugs from. Its the same thing with music.

I really hope all this controversy cuts away the fat off the recording industry. Its about the musicians. They get pennies from the album sales while the industry eats up the dough. Bring back real musicians and I'll pay for their albums. They are pushing alot of no talent pretty people now that probably don't know the difference between major and minor.

im not saying its right, but i think only going after downloaders and not providers is wrong.
r u really okay if you click the disable the file sharing ability?

I make copies of all my CDs to use in my car. That way I don't scratch the originals and if my car gets broken into, I can just go and make new copies.

**** TH RIAA !! those assholes movies will be next TUH ! :bs: :o  :wtf: (flame2) (argh) (gun)

I read that one about the 12 year old sharing cd's. You can sue a 12 year old but you can't put him in prison for murder since he's underage....go figure.

On a side note, I also think they should lower the prices on CD's too, especially since recording artists are putting so much filler in them nowadays. It's hard to find a CD that has at least 3-4 good songs out of 12. Also, it's hard to find songs, i.e Salsa or Gypsie from the early 80's that I can find anywhere else. So it's nice to know I may be able to find them on a file sharing network like Kazaa or Limewire. (dunno)
