Kartboy SS hitting heat shield

Potential Scammer!
My kartboy ss is hitting the heat shield right below the shifter. I was wondering if removing the heat shield would have any adverse effects such as melting the carpet or anything like that?Any other ways to fix this problem? It's rather annoying and makes my MSP sound like s*** when idling in first gear. Thanks for your help! Evan

the way the b&m is installed you just bend the heat shield down a little bit. Try that

I don't know if your the same as my P5, but my TWM came with spacers to stand-off the heat shield a bit - could easily be done with a stack of washers or a short piece of pipe.

the kartboy doesnt come with spacer, I thought of using washers but didnt know what size to get, so i just bent it. It works fine no need to get washers.

that must suck my b&m i didnt even need to move or bend the heat shield...poor design i guess

jk TOM!!! lol

i forgot to add (duh) that i was considering just removing the heat shield also, but i didnt know what kind of effects it would have on the temp inside the car.

I doubt you would see any really negative effects like melting carpet. It is there for a reason, but it probably won't kill you to remove it.

I simply bent it down when I installed my kartboy shifter. I thought about removing it as well, but decided not to since it was easily bent out of the way. Just pull on it and bend the whole thing down, so the tabs where it bolts to the car bend upward a little. . .and tada. . .you're done!

yes, just give it a little tug.
its some really thin aluminum so it wont take much effort to move it down a bit. just make sure it isnt rubbing the exhaust tho.
and ALWAYS use jackstands or car ramps if your skinny.
i wnat to be able to sell you more stuff later on:p

hey tom while youre here, is there any chance of getting you guys to develop stiffer shift bushing for the bottom of the shifter so that it stays rigid and sporty instead of softening up?

I just went to ace hardware and had them match the thread of the existing screws that hold the heat sheild on. Then I bought longer screws and either a 1/4" or 1/2" spacer that fit the screw. Put the space between the heat sheild and the chassis and screwed it back together. Problem solved. That's what I did anyway.

******** BUMP ************

I didnt wanna start another thread but does
anybody here know where I could get this shifter and
bushing ship in canada? damn kartboy.com dont ship
international.:bs:

if the resonator is gone loose the shield. The resonator is the reason ot's there. I removed the shield because my SS hit it and it rattled, Hope this helps.
