Ok guys just got a PG reworked for a nice price, Question is can I run this on the HT tune or strock MAP or is a AP a must?

Ask Hypertech and PG what each thinks. But my thinking is that the Hypertech flash has proven to be very mod friendly and should hold you boost to 18-19 psi in any event and the raised load is modest but helpful. I don't know if the tune will let you build much more power, but if the PG has the wastegate reworked to open it up a little (is that part of of the reworking? -- ask Ken), then you might be on to something, in that you might be able to avoid boost creep issues. You can always step up to the benefits and risks of AP later, if you want more power.

I'm have not asked Ken yet but I'm pretty sure that is they reworked it( Port and polished it) They would have done the wastegate work also. I'm not looking for 400whp or anything just close to 350WHP. I have an email out to Chris and will shot Ken one also. Just looking to see what guys say thay have monitered both the AP and the HT flash, Real life data.

This is what Travis said to you a few days ago about modified turbos (Reworked) and AP.

"If you plan on installing a modifed, larger turbo, you will want a tune for that. Simply put, running an OTS tune with the larger turbo can result in loss of power and or engine damage. You will basically NEED a tune for the turbo. In that sense, the tune is very much worth it and should be factored in as a cost of doing this modification." - TravisCOBB Tuning

I know what AP would say, I also know I will maybe get more HP out of it but is an absolute must, I'm coming from cars that did not NEED tunes to run bigger turbos, Just the proper fuel mods, DSM's.

Ken's reworked K04 is designed to work with the stock tune, I understand. If so, then why would we automatically conclude that it would not be compatable with the HT tune? It's not "big turbo"? it does have a little more efficiency and might not hit the choke line as early, but it's still a K04. If the wategate has been opened up a bit, the tune is still going to limit boost and the wastegate would be able to bypass better to prevent or reduce the likelihood of boost creep at the HT tune load limits.

I would not consider advice from AP or AP users as the answer to this question, although I'm sure they all mean well. I'd like to know what PG and HT each have to say. Either way, I would think that anm6 should now be stepping up to Dash Hawk or similarly robust monitoring if he's going to put the upgraded turbo on and start playing with it on eithe the stock tune or the HT flash.

Yea thanx man, I have a PM in to both of them, :/ but no answer yet( 3 days ago), But the DH is next on my list, Just picked my car up last night after the PTP internals, only go 10 miles on it :(. 100 better hurry up :).
The K04 should be here tomorrow and proably going in on Tuesday next week, We'll see. I just hope I get an answer from Ken or Chris.
