I hope it isn't a repost but there was a little confusion for me when I looked to see which was which. But it is just the same as my wifes Mazda6 wagon. The filter number is 33-2279. Got mine from autoparts warehouse for less that $45. Just though I would pass that on!!(nana)

Just playin' (lol2)

Back when there was no CAI for the MS6, a lot of guys went with the K&N drop in filter, but I seem to remember people tried the v6 filter and it still took a little elbow grease to get the filter in.

mine dropped right in with no problem at all. Maybe it is different for the older v-6's but for the 2006 it is the same. From my understanding it is also the same as the CX-7 as well.

As for the performance there is a little gain from what I can tell. There is also a little piece in the bottom of the intake that I took off as well and now I can hear the turbo spool and the blow off valve. The biggest difference is the turbo spools sooner than it did before. You really couldn't feel any boost until around 3.1k RPM. But now it comes on at about 2.7k. For under $50 I am happy with it!
