JVC vs Alpine

Hi

After I have been looking around for a while for diferents mp3 headunits and I think that all goes down to this two players, can you read the details and tell me wich one in your opinion, should I go for it?

I know there is diferences on money bettween the two but I don't care about that, I just want a good head unit

alpine. there's also another factor and it's cost. the alpine is 400 and the jvc is 220. the alpine has better specs and more power out of the head unit..a remote and buncha other goodies. all depends on what needs/budget are. the alpine is the same unit i have waiting to go into my 6...along with the 6 disc mp3 changer..along with various other goodies...now if someone were to make a dash kit

The Alpine is a far superior unit. They will both last a good long time but the Alpine has the 3 preouts with time correction.

If yiur thinking of the aloine log onto there website and you can enter there advanced page in which you can simply enter the distance each speaker is from you and it will compute the time correction values, then all you have to do is punch them in.

The alpine also features MX, which is mainly a boosting circuit to replenish music lost in XM and MP3. If your using the internal amp then the fact that it has the V-drive, which is the most powerful headunit amp available is a nice thing to have. Also the speakers wires can be converted into RCA's giving you a set of 10 volt preouts.

The only reason to pick the JVC is money!

ALPINE JUST RELEASED NEW MODELS.

the replacement for the one your looking at has Base engine PRO which only the 7998 has right now. YOu can see the new ones at crutchfield. CDA-9813.
Even I am thinking of ditching mne for this one.

Also they have a new MP3 unit for only $280 retail! CDA9807!
THis one looks AWSOME!!!!!!!!!

Also for the mear $70 savings I would get it from a dealer so you can get a real warrenty with it. If you have any problems with one from a website and you call alpine for help

THEY WILL NOT FIX OR SERVICE IT!

I just looked on the website and they don't have posted the the CDA-9813 yet. let me know where I can look at it. by the way the 7998 cost 850 bucks that is double than the CDa-7894

1st MP3 knows what's up. I have an Alpine 7995 and I LOVE it. It's the best headunit I have ever had, hands down. (My previous headunit was a second from the top of the line Kenwood Excelon (1999) model.

1st MP3 --- I haven't fooled with the time correction on my Alpine yet. Are speaker distances pretty standard where I could just get values from you or do I have to measure for myself using my own height? (I am 6'1" and I have the drivers seat in the rear most position)

Measure yourself then go to alpines website and sign up the the I-personalize section and all you have to do is enter the HU model number and then just enter the values they ask you and it will tell you the time correction settings.

The most recent crutchfield magazine has all the new ones. I assume you could find them on Crutchfields web site.

Also any shop starts the 7998 at $799. Alpines website is always higher price then any authorized dealer will charge.

Just as a Side note, I haven't been exited about anthing in car audio for a few years know but these knew alpines which are including very useful and amazing features are realy exiting for there low price. I am definitly swapping to this unit if this is all thats changing this year.

Can you tell me what are the real diferences bettween the CDA-9813 and the CDA- 7894?
wich one is the one you are going to get for your self the CDA-9813 or the CDA-7998?

The CDA-9813 is the better. Its the same price, newer model and it has all the sound and setup option that only the CDA-7998 has right now. THats BAss engine PRO. the 7894 has the V-drive and the time correction but the newer 9813 has those plus a 5 band paramatric EQ, whcih works very weel, I RTA tested it. Also it has 6 channel time correction and the setup options are intense. If it is like the 7998 which I am sure it is. You can log onto alpines I-personalize sight and set everything up there automaticly and then have your PC burn a disc that will transfer the setup file to the headunit. THat is the I-personalize tag which I don't see on the 9813 but I am hoping.

Oh, a new find to get the I-personalize option you will need the 9815. That will be my new headunit.

Each unit has a subwoofer output, infact each have 3 4 volt preout, not just 1 4 volt proout for the sub like other brands.
The 9813 lists the sub out put.

Bass engine Pros very definition by alpine contains a sub out so its a give.

Both have ID3 tag recognition so they will display MP3 text on the disc. The 9813 also plays WMA, not just MP3.

Both have seek/scan, all headunits do.

There won't be one feature the 7894 has that the 9813 won't!
The only posible exception is the amber buttons option but I bet it will have it too.

Alpine CDA - 7894. I picked one up a short while ago. The 4V sub preout makes quite a difference over my old alpine so don't sell it short. Oh and I bought mine at http://www.etronics.com for $304.99 + $15 shipping. Right now they have it for $309.99! Can't beat that! Oh and I found etronics.com by going to http://www.bizrate.com and comparison shopping. Check it out.

I'm asking because I know mine will come with one and I'm trying to understand why do I need it for when I can reach to the headunit with my right hand and do the same?

Wouldn't be saver to rwach to the headunit if you need to rather than pick up a remote and then do the volume or song changes as you drive?

don't taker me wrong I'm not trykng to tell you what to do, I'm just trying to understand it my self so I can make up my mind to use it or not

I am getting the 9815 becuase of the I-personalize.
I-personalize is intense to say the least. YOu simply log in you system setup and the website autoamicly configures a file that can be downloaded to a cd and then read by the head unit which will autoamicly set up the unit.

Oh sorry. It's just a little more comfortable when you don't have to reach over to the console. Not only that but you can adjust volume and track without taking your eyes off the road. Just let your thumb do the walking. Plus I like it because it keeps your head unit nice and clean. The buttons on my old Alpine head unit started wearing off and greasy fingerprints always seemed to build up everywhere. Overall, however, the remote really is just a luxury item.
