Just saying hi

Sup everyone, just bought a black '03 MSP on the 18th and a friend directed me to this site. I love my MSP, its quick, responsive, and handles exellent. I've been driving it for about 2 weeks now and havent had any problems, but there is one thing i am curious about. It seems that when im driving, the car tends to list or pull to the left a bit. Its not immediately noticeble, but i just bought it and its gettin on my nerves. Was wonding if anyone else here has had anything similar happen to them.

Btw, i got mine straight off the truck, brand spankin new, and never been test-driven, even by me!

Welcome to the forum Need4speed. Hope you enjoy it here. You have questions, we might have the answers.

When is it pulling? If it is during acceleration, then it might be the Limited Slip differential. The LSD will transfer power to whichever wheel is getting more traction. This combined with the fact that our cars are front wheel drive can make the car pull when you take off.

Maybe try coasting in neutral and don't steer. See if the car tracks straight. If not, then you might need an alignment. That should be free under warranty for the first 12 months.

Also, our 17" wheels tend to kinda "follow the road" What I mean is that a lot of roads have grooves worn into them from the weight of all the cars that have gone over them. The big wheels tend to get into the grooves and pull the wheel to stay in them.

The more you drive the car the easier it will be to tell when the pulling to the side is happening and what is going on at the time.

Congrats on your new car! Your are gonna have soooo much fun!

Welcome!

My MSP pulls to the left ever so slightly as well. It's strong enough that on the expressway in the right lane it still pulls! (even with the banking going to the right)

It is just the alignment and I beleive just about every MSP comes aligned incorrectly from the dealership. Just take it back and have them realign it according to the MSP specs rather than the ES specs. You should be fine from there!

Maybe they just set up the MSP for stock car racing??? Left turn, Left Turn, Left Turn, Left Turn, Left Turn.............you get the picture?

Welcome to the MSP Experience!!

I know that you`ll love your new MSP!!(yippy)

And a GREAT choice in color too.(mspb) I`ve had mine for well over a month now...and still lovin it!!

As for the pull to the left thing, I had the same problem. Just take it back to the dealership, and they`ll do an alignment to remedy the problem.

Hey Feakhelek,

I go to johnstown on a monthly basis... where are you exactly?

I live in Richland Township. Kinda the extended Johnstown suburbs. I work at CTC in case you know the place. Software Engineer. How 'bout you? I have a friend that lives near Manassas(sp?). What brings you to J-town?

Yea I have the same problem, I brought it back to the dealership and they took me out in it and said it was fine told me about the bigger rims and such. It doesn't happen as often on low speeds only on higher speeds like 80km and above it pulls to the right but it could just be because I'm goin faster wants to follow the road quicker what do you think? ANd I know about the torque steer it ain't that.
I'm not actually pushing the gas at the time.

yea it isnt torque steer unless you floor it...and going at a 12.1 in the quater...yea i had to really oversteer that time...and by the way...i ran a 13...ugg musta been a good wind gust lol (read earlier posts)

In what car? and what are you doing oversteering in a quarter mile? I didn't know you could "plow" when you don't turn?:wtf: (scratch)

sup matt,

i also purchased a black msp not so long ago. it's nice to see another msp owner that is close to me. you're the 3rd that i know of. i also have that very faint pull to the left. i'm glad that you haven't been getting any probs. i, on the other hand, have had little issues with the car. first, i had a problem with the alarm triggering while i was driving, then i had an oil leak which gave a slight burning smell. the leak was fixed but i recently had the alarm thing again. i'm actually driving down to irvine mazda to get it checked tomorrow. funny thing is that i had both problems since the first day i bought the car. maybe we'll all get together sometime and have lunch or something.

btw, where did you purchase your car?
