2012 Mazda 2 GS M/T
It's been a long time coming, but I'm finally going to get my Mazda 2. It's a 2012, so it was a bit of a challenge finding one in the pearl white I wanted so badly, but my dealership was able to locate one and is shipping it over! I would have just waited for the 2013 models, but I got some wicked cash incentives on what is essentially the exact same car.

I'm so excited for my first car, and it should arrive next week. Then I have to figure out how to drive a manual transmission! (drive)

I've got lots in mind for performance and appearance upgrades, but winter is coming soon so most of those will have to hold off until spring. But yeah, pretty much one of everything that CorkSport has to offer. :P In the mean time I have planned it all out in Forza, haha.

Congratulations on your purchase!!! Mind telling us how much you paid? 2012s can be let go at significant discounts off of the MSRP...

In any case, the 2 is probably not the best car to LEARN to drive stick in... I've only ever owned manuals and the 2's clutch is very tricky at first. I mastered it after day 2 and am smooth as butter now, but the clutch travel is significantly shorter than other clutches.

Its a really fine line between letting off the clutch too quickly and jerking and letting off to slowly and making it slip too much. 24k miles and still getting used to it :/

It was almost exactly $20k (in Canada) for a GS/Touring model, and that was including an $800 extra charge for having to ship it in from elsewhere (which I wasn't thrilled about, but worth it to get the color I wanted). With a $2500 cash bonus, $400 dealer bonus, and $300 grad rebate, I saved a total of $3200. In the end the price came out to pretty much exactly what the website configurator said, so I was happy.

I re-learned how to drive stick in this car, it really is tricky at first, but keep at it and you'll be okay.

Maybe it's actually better then that I've never learned how to drive stick before. No proactive interference from having originally learned on a much different clutch.

I think the 2 is a breeze to drive compared to other cars. Even my gf says my 2 is easy to drive around especially compared to my evo. Its not going to be much different than learning in any other small car i.e. civic, yaris, fit etc... If you dont mind the vibration the awr rear mount will exponentially improve the clutch and shift feel. Honestly it would probably make learning how to drive it quite a bit easier too.

If we were talking about baseball and pitching mechanics, this might be beneficial. But as of right now, you're about to take Calcaulus II with no previous math experience. :D

Nah, you won't have any trouble. The first time I every drove a manual I took off on the first try and drove for an hour (all the way home) without killing it.

Hey, if it was too easy it wouldn't be fun now, would it? :P

Also I plan on making a video of me trying to figure things out for the first time, and I'll post it regardless of how embarrassing or successful it may be.

Oh yes, many pics will be had. :)

I already have LED fog lights, Lamin-X yellow fog light film, LED interior/exterior lights, and a stubby antenna on order. Can't wait to get my car and start working on it! I'll probably start a build thread just to document everything I do.
