I didn't follow the directions exactly as written, mainly because I didn't want to remove my entire bumper. I did what I read somewhere on here and just jacked up the driver's side, removed the wheel, and took out the wheel well plastic halfway. 3 bolts and a handful of plastic clips and you just let the well sag down against the brake rotor.
There is a shield that has to be removed to mount the cai and that's where I cheated. It's got three bolts that are facing away from you, and you can only reach one. I finagled a ratchet in there and got it out, popped one plastic clip, and pulled 'til half of it broke off. It's a two piece shield that is held together with plastic rivets. This way, there is still some shield there, (you can't put it back with the intake there) and the way is clear for the intake vibro-mount and filter.
