Just My Luck.....

So i am on my home from the sox game last night... and im about 5 miles south of the I-94 interchange on I-55... when i notice ahead of me there is a whole bunch of cars swerving out of the way onto the shoulder... well i go to step on the brakes.. and before u know it i have to slam on them cause everyone came to a direct stop .... well i do come to a stop in time not to hit the guy in front of me....

however, the guy who was behind me couldnt stop in time.. and clipped my rear bumper on the passenger side.. and took my right rear reflector with him...

and then procedes to gun it and flee as fast as possible...(pissed) well my attempt to catch him was failed cause traffic was a bit packed...

if anyone sees a 90's Toyota Camry / Tan/ with some red scraps on his driver side front bumper/ and a large dent in his driver side rear bumper .. pls take down his plate for me (chair)

to get caught for a hit and run in this area you pretty much have to drive yourself to the police station with a giant sign stapled to your head with red letters stating "I ARE KRIMINAL". (drive)

i can assure you we're not surrounded by honest and virtuous drivers in chicagoland.

Someone with more legal knowledge can correct me, but if no physical (human) harm had occurred, the worst that someone would be charged with in this case is a misdemeanor (even if it was hit and run)

what was the end result of the case where yours was hit? i don't recall and for some reason am oddly curious.

but the person that hit me ran and someone got there plates so it wasnt to bad, hope u find the person

+1. You'd never get a police report filed in Chicago for things like this. Needless to say, as much as it sucks, this happens very frequently.

And 2nd'ly, at this point, your case is over. Even if you did find the vehicle with or without the damage on their car, it'll be just circumstantial claims on your part.

You'll never be able to prove that vehicle was indeed behind you at that given time; you can take it up with your insurance if you want (ideally if the only thing damage was the reflector, you'd be better off buying a new one and replacing it yourself if you can, lest your rates go up).

Also, you assume this person would have the insurance to pay for your damages. Wrong there as well.

pretty much....it's happened to me twice now here in austin.....first time was 7k in damage...2nd was 6.5k....i hate people

Ya it does suck... i need to have one filed though so my insurance can pay for the bumper to be repaired.
