my '87 toyota camery was finally totaled 3 weeks age, i looked and looked and looked for another beater, but just couldn't do it. i have two dogs and wanted a wagonish car to hall them out of trown for there daily off leash walks. then.... there it was in the local paper:

2002 Mazda Prot 5. 89000 kms a/t/c sunroof orig owners must see.

well, if i must

love at first site! they were asking $14000 CAD but i only had Access to $12000 for a loan. i have NEVER spent real money on a car before, EVERYthing i have owned was been under $3k. i offered my paultry $12k and they kicked me to the kirb... allbiet gently.

i phoned back that nite with to ask them to reconsider as i'd give it a good home. they told me that $13 was really as low as they were willing to go, but since they were moving out of province shortly and they were young once (37 isn't exactly young, but i didn't argue) they'd meet me half way.

$12500 later i drove home with a grin that i still can't wipe off my face.

so

did i get an ok deal?

the body is practically perfect except some minor surface scratches and a ding the interior is imaculate! all the service records were provided and i love driving it. i am going to have to put 2 new tires on this winter i think, and maybe replace the airfilter, but other than that... wow

yay me

modding!$?

the mods i'd be interested in would be to make it more fuel efficient, are there any of those?

where is the fun in that?!?!?! (shady)

good point, i am SO not a mechanically inclined person, what mods are most popular?

and hey, trying to get the gas mileage up above the epa rating could be lots of fun!

if by fun you mean hard

or boring

or hard and boring
