just installed header

I just installed the header today and it's fricken awsome. its like a whole other car now. its loud as s***. only one problem though, when i get into the throttle it sounds like there is a high pitch taping. any thaughts on why this might be happening.

taping? no idea.....how loud is loud?? you have both cats still or using a race pipe?

the cat on the header is gone and the one on the exhaust depends on what kind of exhasut system he got. hope that answers your question....

thats what i figured about the header one, but was curious to know if he had a street or off road pipe where the second one should be.... wouldn't think a header would increase volume that much.... with a legal exhaust set up....

It's a Draxas header and pipe all the way back, i did order the highflow cat. converter. To give you an idea about the sound; it kind of sounds like the way the old VW bugs use to sound like, just not as extreem. you know the way thay have that loud highpitch knocking sound.
other thain that it is awsome as crap.

is your car a hatch back or sedan? did you have any problem with the first O2 sensor? fitment issue?

I have a hatch back, and no i didn't have a problem with the O2 sensor. It was actually easy to install the new header, but it took some time to take off the old exhaust flange.
I think it took me about 4 1/2 Hrs.

I don't have any tapping noises that I've noticed, but the header is definatly loud. It almost sounds like I have an exaust leak but I've checked and I don't(anymore), I have the Draxas exaust with highflow cat so that might be why the noise sounds different for you. I guess the valvetrain is just really noisy and all that sound is now coming out of the header. I'm just going to drive it for the weekend and then recheck for leaks on moday.

Im having an issue with the flex pipe being 1-2 inches short of the high flow cat. Adjusting the pipes puts the hangers and an impossible bad angle. Im at a loss as what to do at this point.

You might be able to loosen up the clamp on the highflowcat and bring it closer. I think mine was about 1/2" short, but I had enough slack in the rubber hangers to bring them togeather.

I had an intermittent MIL befor I installed the header that came back on tonight, I reset it, we'll see how long it takes to come back on. I probably won't have a chance to actually get it diagnosed until I get back for vacation on the 28th.

Ya i also had about 2" diffrence but it drew it all together when i starting threading the machine bolts together.
can you feel a diffrence in the power?

Yea i resolved the issue with some wiggling and loosed up one end of the cat. The hangers are a little tight though..

Drilling out anti fowler now and will be firing it up within the hour.

Now that I have actually driven it for a few miles, I am hearing that tapping/buzzing sound when the engine is accelerating, if I'm crusing or off the throttle it is perfectly quiet. Did you figure out what is causing the noise? Hopefully tomorrow I'll be able to figure out what the problem is.

No buzzing or tapping. Possible you have a leak.

no there is no leak i checked it over twice now, i think that the sound is just from the explosion frome the combustion chamber, but my question is why is it so high piched.
Can you feel the power diffrence? with mine it is incredible, im actually going to go to the race track tonight and see what i run. hopefully i will be around the 15.4 or 3 mark.

Last time i went my best time was a 15.61 that is with springs, AEM cai, and draxis exhaust with highflow CAT.
