2003.5 Mazdaspeed Protege #2043 Silver
I just purchased one off e-bay Saturday night. Going to pick it up today.

I've been told that it smokes a lot out of the exhaust. I was also told that one of the intercooler pipes has some oil at the bottom of it. I have not been able to diag the car yet, but from what I've been seeing, this is a fairly common problem. The car only has 48K.

Where should I start?

Price not bad.

Well, the price wasn't bad. There is talk about possibly a blow turbo. I may be able to get a turbo kit from a friend of my dad. I guess I'm lucky to have some friends in the Mazda business.

whats up kyle :)

this guy lives right down the road from me, i used to jam in his basement back in the day LOL

Thanks guys! Def. going to look into the turbo when it decides to not rain for a day.

the T25 is non-rebuildable... so... doesn't really matter. if the turbo seals are gone... you're basically in for a new center section.

i dont have any experience with the MSP T25 personally, but even though my ballbearing IHI is non-rebuildable the oil seals can still be replaced as long as there is no shaft play. the problem in my situation is finding the seals. i feel like the seals would be more readily available for the turbo from a 6 year old USDM car vs. the turbo for a rare 17 year old JDM car.

Pic in the rain.

Just brought it home last night. To bad it rained though.

Well, before I purchased it, I guess the guy had an intake. However, they took that off when I picked it up. So now, it has no intake. HAHA.

By the looks of the springs, almost seems like they lowered the car a little. Haven't been able to crawl under it yet.

The car was bought at an auction. The shop that bought it had to downsize their shop help, so they couldn't diag it. They think it has a blow turbo or motor, due to the smoke and the intercooler line filling with oil. Seeing they couldn't do a real in depth diag, I got it pretty cheap. Plus, there is only 48K on it. Going to start with a compression test, then look at the turbo. My dad is a friend with a Mazda teacher, who has given us some places to start. Other than that, there is a aftermarket boost gauge on the pillar and an exhuast.

Hopefully, if it's not raining soon, I'll be able to get some work done on her.
