Just bought my MS3

So I've been putting around in my Scion tC and it was either stay with that and perhaps void the warranty with a turbo and drop some money upgrading interior bits or start shopping for a new car.

Initially my requirements were "must be rwd" so I test drove an RX-8 and honestly it just felt underpowered...as if it wasn't much of an upgrade over my tC. I know they can make some incredible power but the premium gas and all that basically made me feel like it'd be a RWD sexier tC that I'd still have to sink money in go-fast parts. So the salesperson told me to test drive a 2010 MS3 and I loved it.

Ended up buying a used 2008 MS3 in True Red...SPOTLESS CONDITION (the metal door plates still had the protective plastic!) with 20,800 miles on it from Lustine Toyota in Woodbridge, VA. It's fully loaded and has every option except the sunroof (which i'd never use). ******* love the car and am planning to get a SRI or CAI along with a BPV to start. Later on maybe a catless DP and test pipe but the smoky turbo issues are scary business.

I've only taken one pic of it so far. I've also managed to scrape my bumper which pisses me off to no end.

Anyway, see you all in the forums,

Welcome to the forum! Sounds like you've done your research. A SRI/CAI is a good starter; as well as the rear motor mount or short throw shifter. Those three mods will completely transform the car (from what everyone else says).

Welcome. If you do DP and worried about smoking turbo, just put in 5w40 oil and raise your idle to 900rpms.

congrats on your purchase, where about are you located? interested in coming to a meet sometime?

Just keep your mods simple and avoid the headaches, these cars are a nice platform..but they are not bullet proof....O'h yeah, and welcome to the forums.

Then you do have every option, since there was no sunroof option on 1st gen MS3s (or 2nd gens, for that matter). Something about structural rigidity or such nonsense. :)

Honestly I miss the sliding sunroof from my S13 almost as much as I miss the T-Tops from my Z31.

Wow forgot I even posted this thread!

I'm not far from you in Stafford. Also a true red.

I live in Hanover, MD near Laurel...I frequent often to the Bethesda/Rockville/Gaithersburg area and am definitely interested in going to a meet. Not many MS3's (aka none) at the evac meets I sometimes go to.

Huh, didn't know that. A friend of mine told me he knew someone who had a sunroof. I also saw a description for the buttons in the manual so I just assumed.

Thanks all for the grats.
