03.5 Mazdaspeed Protege
Just wanted to stop an say hello. Got the speed Friday morning, love it so far.
Traded in my 98 SVT Contour, gonna miss it but i think the speed will just as much if not more fun.

I searched through this site some before i bought the car, you guys got some good info here. I look forward to posting and reading!!

Driving my MSP with our SVT back to back, I think the Contour is faster, but it handles like a Lincoln compared to the MSP. Welcome!

welcome!

awesome color, total sleeper!

post some pics when u can

I agree about the SVT, as much as i liked that car and its corning capabilities, MSP is 10 times better in corners.

I am not sure which is quicker yet, the MSP has more low end while i think the SVT has much more at the top end.

Sorry, no pics yet, i don't own a digital cameral. As soon as find somebody that will let me use thiers, i will post some pics.

Anybody now how to obtain the build #, also is there some sort of certificate like the SVT.

call Mazda USA 1-800-222-5500
enter prompt 4

then give them your vin and u will get your production number

Welcome! Wow, it seems like alot of us SVTC owners went the switch to MSP. It really is a good car and very comparable performance wise. Did you ever post on www.contour.org ? Good to see you here!

Welcome to the site & CONGRATS on the most unique MSP color available! Please get some pics soon because no one has any of their Silver MSP (mainly because there are less than 5 on this site that I know of).

2003.7 is just a name people came up with for the Blue & Silver since they were being produced later in the year, but the 1st 03.5 I ever saw was Blue. So there are only 03s & 03.5s.

i did post on contour.org a occasionally,
another good forum with good info.

It came down to, did i want to spend the money to do everything i wanted to the SVT or buy something new. I just could not pass up the deals on the MSP's.

I think i read your post when you got the MSP on the countour forum last week, at least i think this was you. which do you like more?

BTW, i will post pics as as i can, gotta find a Digital camera.

speed,
I'm not sure which one I like better, both have there ups. I guess its like trying to pick whick child you would love better hehe. That was me on the other board showing off the new msp. I think you made the right choice on selling the svt for the msp. Definitely!

Well, for now the speed difference is a no contest thing between the two. Our SVT got to spend a month at HMS when the tranny fragged itself at 80,000 miles. It received a little help in the horsepower dept and a quaife diff while there. It pulls much better through the turns than stock, but still has nothing on the MSP, turning-wise.

I quit posting over at contour.org long ago. When Lance reworked the board long ago, he shafted a very active Kentucky contingent by removing the KY Regional forum. Most of the current friends I have in Louisville, I made through that site and SCCA.

I'm also a new owner!

About a month ago, I traded in my '00 VW Golf GTI VR6 for a '03 Mazda Protege 5. The wife loves it! A little less power than what she's used to, but she loves the space and the fuel economy. On that day, I did a lease return on my '01 BMW 540i 6-Speed and purchased a '03.5 Mazdaspeed. I'm enjoying it so far. Earlier that day, I also bought a new house. What a day!

While the MSP doesn't have near the grunt of a 325 ft lb torque V-8, I'm enjoying the awesome value for money. Now that I've done 1200 miles, I'm ready to press!

Besides getting my ECU re-flashed, what simple mods can I make to get a little more OOOooomph?

First, i assume the MBC = manual boost controller. please correct me if i am wrong.

Second, does anybody know what this does to the warrenty.

well, if u do a clean install then u can take the MBC on and off in less than 5 minutes.
so if u ever have to go to the dealer, just pull over and take it off.

oh yeah, and MBC is manual boost controller :D
the most popular on this site is Joe P. MBC XZ
