Just bought a greddy bov! questions help!

I have an RS on mine recirculating. You can barely hear it. Just a little louder that stock, and thats with my intake. When i get a little more money, Im gonna upgrade to a turbosmart dual port

damnit. hahaha well i did get it for 20 bucks. so whatever im ok with it just being a little louder then stock.

UPDATE my flange and recirc fitment just came in. i'm going to be installing it very shortly. i'll have a video up later! =)

i know NOTHING about bov's besides they hold boost better and make a cool sound hahahaha

Enjoy it because it is a bargain and it makes a "cool sound." You will quickly find out that BOV's in general, and the Greddy RS in particular, do not hold boost better than a bpv or the stock bpv. My stock bpv holds HT tune's 18-19 psi rock solid at over 40,000 miles when the ECU and tune's load limits will allow it to do so.

If you are interested in power, do run any bpv or bov in full recirc on this engine. Farting already metered air back out to atmosphere on a MAF sensor controlled engine just robs the engine of oxygen (and therefore power) that the already metered fuel is expecting to match and burn for more power. The ECU chases this mismatch and ultimately detunes the engine slightly to compensate. Then you have both a dial back of oxygen and fuel. Full recird FTW.

heres the thing. i have it on full recirc right now. and it gave me a CEL. saying im running to lean. should i just keep adjusting it? or wtf! help hahaha

CEL lean probably means you have a leak. Check your connections and clamps first before trying to adjust the valve

What was the code? P2187? If it's giving you that one, make sure it's not coincidentally your purge valve... I've been getting that code for a year and I thought it was because of my SRI, even though I was sure the ECU would re-learn the AFRs it needed and the Cobb SRI has a built in air straightener, I thought it was giving me the code anyway. Turns out, after all this time it was my purge valve having gone bad, and it's a common thing for Speed 3's. Now the only code I've thrown since then is my catalytic converter start up temp or something... but that's cause I don't have one xD

i checked all my clamps everything's on tight!

and i didnt read the number like a rookie, i just read the problem and cleared it. it said i was running to lean. those arent the exact words of course haha. but im sure it will be back tomorrow. i mean my car seems to be running fine and normal. although randomly shifting into 2nd or 3rd i'll get an occasional backfire. idk tomorrow i will write down the code if it comes up again since i'll adjust it again in the morning.

Take off the RS and put your stock one back on and see if you still get the CEL, if you don't then its the valve, internally I'm guessing the diaphram is probably dry rotted and not doing its job anymore.

yeah its p2187 it didnt come on for 2 days then on my way home from school it came up. it says running to lean at idle. how do i get rid of this CEL permanently?

alright now im pissed. i was sitting in a drive through and mass amounts of blue smoke came pouring out. SWEEET. i wish i wasnt so in debt to this damn car now.
