Just Bought 03.5 MSP

the only advice i can give you is change your tranny fluid every 60k as recommended... i've blown 3rd gear twice.... the stock kenwood radio always breaks and gets stuck.... if you don't get another one, knowing the reset button always helps on the stock radio....... also get rid of the plastic IC piping

sweet will do man, im about to change the MTX fluid probably tonight since my shop is dead, (business is getting slow) so ill do it should probably take around 3qts?

sounds like it needs a MAF relocation. or possibly bpv issues

....
maf relocation is never a solution, it is an upgrade....however, this isn't going to fix his problems here and in a few cases this will actually cause problems on some msps

the others here have some good points, such as the fuel pump dying out or the vacuum lines...have you checked your wastegate to make sure it is still good?

take the vacuum line leading to the wastegate and blow into it, it shouldn't let any air pass through...if it does, there is your problem....a lot of people dont realize this as an issue until its really bad because the symptoms can be really weird until that point

Id also spray some maf sensor cleaner on the maf sensor

if that doesn't help, get a boost gauge and check your vacuum levels, you should be reading 20ish inHg of vacuum at idle, and around 21-22 after you take the car out of gear and the rpms are falling...if not then you have a vacuum leak

as for mentioning injectors, you cannot run larger injectors on this car on the stock computer....you have to run either a piggy back or a standalone....as for running a gt28 on this motor, I wouldn't run more than 10 psi on it, however that is pushing it still...Ive seen these motors blow even when stock, running a larger turbo on stock internals has been done a lot but it is still risky

that being said, congrats on the car!

You should also replace your pcv and plugs if you have not already. Check the air filter or clean/oil if if its an aftermarket. Run some Seafoam through the engine via the pcv hose and put the rest in your tank with the next fill up.

i guess i forgot to mention i fixed the bad idling, and stalling

I removed the intake manifold, replaced the throttle body gaskets, and cleaned the EGR i didnt see anything out of the ordinary until i was reassembling, and noticed the former owner had plugged off a vacuum line for whatever reason, so i hooked it all back up and 1500 miles later no idling problems at all.

EDIT: i do not want to start another thread for this, but what CCA batteried are you guys using and what brand, i have a bad Interstate with only 440 CCA does this sound right, i get a lot of headlight surge and dimming lights while night driving im not sure its related to this though. any suggestions?

<-- noob to msp's too, got mine a few weeks ago with only 9k miles!!!111
But the turbo is bad :( so off to go shopping

tell me about it, i've been looking at auctions for years now and only found ones with 80-100k on them until this one. Somebody must have garage kept it. But for some reason the tape or whatever holds up the ground effects is not doing its job anymore lol.
