a guy i work with came up to my car the other day and said no matter what you do to your car it is still just a protege. then he added a damn nice one but still a protege. i was wondering if anybody gets any grief for owning a protege or if anybody else gets weird comments like this? pretty much i told him..... damn.. the salesman told me it was a ferrari, guess i have to take it back!!! no s*** it is a protege!!!
anyway just wanted to hear other comments protege owners are getting!

...seems like every time I hear that from someone, that my car is hella faster than theirs. Maybe it's a coincidence...I don't know.

I give props to the MSP. You guys are #2 in the straight-line department in the $20K market. I like the MSP a lot, I'm looking for one for my wife, and I looked at one before I got my SRT. I just couldn't pass up the SRT. So now's my chance to get the MSP...only it won't be my daily driver...it'll be my wife. But hell, what a garage, eh??

All ive gotta say is who gives a **** what others think? The only thing that matters is that YOU like your car, not if others think its just a protege. I mean, i think we all thought this car was just a protege until we test drove one and saw how well they drove and rode and looked and etc. Or atleast I did. I love my car, if someone thinks its just a protege, then ill agree its just that. But its MY PROTEGE and thats what makes it good.

That's a nice thing to say QWIK. I went the opposite route - loved the SRT, needed a new car, and couldn't wait until the LSD hits the '04 SRT. Not to mention, a Dodge dealer wasn't about to give me anything on a trade for a Miata.

Hope you get the MSP for your wife. That would be a hell of a garage!

For everyone else - I've only found one car in as many years as I can remember (of recent cars anyway) that inspires universal lust - the Ferrari 360 Modena. Now THAT is an art form. I'd take crap from a 360 owner - not from anyone else.

I have an ES like yours, not as cool looking though (esp. those kick ass rims), and I get a lot of compliments from both guy friends and when I take a girl out. I guess some fucktard is trying to put you in your place because he drives a H2 or something. All I can say, is that I love the car esp. now that gas prices are up (AGAIN!!!)

Hey Quick, a bet you that people are just jealous because the SRT4 is one hell of a ride and under $20K. They know you can smoke them if they were up against you, so they try to make themselves feel good saying, "It's still a neon!"

the hell with what people think ... my car is just a protege, but i rather have something different than have say a lexus is 300 like every other one on the street ... i see this as being a hobby and with my income, i either buy a cheap car thats nice and good and fix it up which im doing or go all out and buy a bmw or something ... there will always be people that dont appreciate whats done to a car, so they feel the need to have smart comments like "its just a protege"

"It's bigger than your engine.." and he chuckled as though he were the smartest asshole to ever live. I calmly replied.. "My engine displaces 1.5 liters." And the look on his face was a look of utter disappointment that he hadn't offended me, I love Proteges and that's all there is to it. (laugh)

amongst my friends, i have one of the better cars. mainly cuz i'm still in high school... but some of these other fuckers at my school, cuz their parents are rich, have vettes, is', brand new 3 series, brand new mustangs, GLI's, crash 1 jetta and get a GTI, holy hell i almost wish i was a spoiled brat
oh well at least i take good care of my car cuz i have to pay for it(thumb)
