Jumped on the side molding removal bandwagon

they deff help when ya park in a garage or when you are in a tight spot... who came to that conclusion that they dont help with door dings i would love to know.... they are put there for a reason they dont look the best but sometimes the styling has to sacrifice..well compare in 10 years who has more door dents

i just did it to my car today. no tools needed, n oadhesive removed needed. i just pulled and it came right off. great, simple, easy, free mod if you want to

I agree it looks HOT without them.

but I know my luck guarantees that within a week (or a month at most) I'll get a nice door ding right where that sucka used to be.

so I'm gonna keep em on.

I just did it myself on Friday, it was plenty hot but some residue was left behind that was a pain to get off with goo gone. I got it off with the help of a hair dryer, washed n waxed the door panels, and damn it looks good.

i took cashmere's advice , sprayed goo gone on the top of eaach strip, let it sit for 10 minutes , then used a grocery plastic bag (the handle part) to fish out the beginning of each molding and then pulled slowly but firmly. the goo gone then got on the newly exposed paint , wiped it off and sprayed some luquid wax and presto. as far as protection from dings, yes it will increase the chances but I go out of my way to park away and evenly ....but what u gonna do? if it happens it happens.

they really dont help that much, only on low cars with the correctly shaped door. i tested it on my brothers infiniti I30, pretty much a standard build for a car and it met at the top of the door. so while it would help in a few situations, with most cars it wont and not at all with all those suvs. and in 10 years i will still have zero dents, if for some reason i get hit, i will suck it up and spend the cash. considering this "upgrade" is free, you might eventually have to pay sometime.

I de-molded my Speed3 yeaterday afternoon. Grabbed an end and pulled. Left no sticky residue behind but did leave dirt where the molding was. A little quick detailer and then some wax and VOILA, here she is:

I think it looks great with out the molding too. I was thinking about pulling mine off and painting them black. I have a speed3 with 20% all round. How would that look with them painted? Would it make the car look good or god awful. I need to here from you guys cause I'm not sure what my take is on it, if I like the idea or not.

how about using floss or it takes too long? I use floss for badges.

No need for floss. Just park your car in the sun on a warm day and grab an end and pull. Comes off really easy and doesn't leave behind any tape (at least on my car).

Give it a shot!

Nah leave them off. I wouldn't paint them or anything. Just leave them off.

My .000002 :)

i'm actually really curious what that will look like. it is easy enough to just line up to see if you like the look, if not you can decide to leave them off

Just did this after work today, looks pretty good.

It's been pretty hot lately in Maryland, so after I left the office I just tore them off carefully.

where do you guys park? here in mass, if i park away from the crowd, that just lets the shopping carts pick up more speed b4 they crash into my baby.

i actually watched a woman at walmart shove a cart as hard as she could across the lot into nowhere's land. that's the way they roll around here.
