2003 Mazda Protege5
Hey guys, figured I'd post a new thread on my car as it has come a long way since my introduction thread.

This is my Black Mica 2003 Protege5 with the Sport Auto

I bought it in the Spring of 2009 with 49,000 and am currently at about 90,000. This car has been nothing but reliable and an awesome first car to drive and make my own (my first vehicle was a 92 Explorer).

I don't have any crazy plans for my car or my build, just make it a nice DD, keep everything in working order and have a car that people will recognize as mine.

I have done quite a number of mods since owning it, especially over the last year or so.

This was shortly after I bought it and had given it a good clean

And it's slowly been coming along

Looking good, I'm really digging your headlights. I'm still trying to decide what headlights i want to put on my car.

Thanks for the kind words guys.

Clean! May I suggest removing that pinstripe, and maybe the ding guards?

Man, I've spent probably 3-4 hours trying to get my pinstripes off but they're on there so well and after 10 years, I don't think they'll come off without having something heavy duty to buff it with for a good amount of time. I've used a couple different adhesive removers, paint scrapers and more but I just can't them off. So they're kind of "ghost stripes" now haha. I'm also afraid to remove the moldings for the reason that I don't know how good the paint would look under/around after being on for so long. If my car wasn't black, I would be more courageous with the paint but it shows so much :/

This car is a sexy b****, black car on black wheels done very well (2thumbs)

Thanks man, appreciate it. I think it is one of the better looking black on black cars around here. The 2003 rims look great in black, I have a buddy with an 02 and he PC'd his wheels black, but I don't think they look quite as good.

Wow, after all that they still wouldn't come off... have you tried a heat gun to soften them up. As for the guards, a decent buff/polish and it should blend pretty decent... your paint looks better than mine. If not, double sided tape them suckers right back on.

Oh yeah, heat gun and everything FTL :(

I can't decide if I want to take those bumpers off because they MIGHT come in handy here where I live. When I moved to Bellingham 3 years ago, my car had one dent and one blemish on the rear bumper. It now has about 8 door dings and another gash in my back left bumper, so I want to keep it as protected as possible from all the oblivious people that have so far caused of these things -.-

So, I've been thinking about ordering one of the front grills with no emblem for a week or so now, want to know what ya'll think...

It would basically be the same as Roro's

I think it looks really good, it's cheap and I love me some black :)

Obviously the quality should be better on DGM or AutoExe, but THAT much better? It does nothing but sit there and look pretty :p

AutoExe and DGM are so much better for the perfect fit, ebay one's have bad gaps
