I've fallen in love with my car again....

I just took it on a 2 hour drive up on Angeles Crest Highway. Wow!

I think that something must have been messed up with my old tranny or that the tranny mounts WERE loose and that it didn't just fail on me. The reason I'm thinking this is because when I took off the traction control (DSC?) and launched with a medium release at just south of 3k RPMs, I squealed the tires - that never happened before. I think I was losing a LOT of power to parasitic torsion (am I using the right word?) channeled through the loose mount.

If I can make it a little while with no CELs or massive problems, I'm just going to keep the car and save up a substantial emergency fund to cushion any problems I might have (with the car or anything else, really).

I thought you would like that road! It's a good thing you got to do it on a week day too. I'm envious.

I saw a motorcycle cop going the opposite way when I was on the way down - I don't even think he was patrolling because he was just smiling away and he didn't pull over the Audi TT convertible in front of me that was just FLYING down the road.

cool, glad to hear your back on the road. I read your post on myspace about engine mount failure. that sounded like a bad day.

Dude your lost. You went from officially hating mazda and considering getting a honduh to falling in love again with mazda. Better yet, your not lost...I'm just baffled.

Glad to hear your luck has turned around. I've heard a few stories of weird mechanical issues like doors that don't open and such. Hopefully you have smooth driving from here on out.

I never hated Mazda - I hated my car. More correctly, I hated the fact that I couldn't love my car.

Mazdas are usually reliable - that's why I picked one over the VW GTI (well, that and it smokes the GTI) - I was afraid the VW would be an electronics nightmare because that's the VW rep.

You hit it on the nail...+1...Welcome back nondual

I have seen your posts on all the crap you've been going through and am definately glad to see things brighten up!!

I have around 70k miles on my turboed P5 and almost have the kind of love for her as my 7 & 8 year old boys. Except now that my clutch has started slipping I have been starting to neglect her a bit. Built motor and tranny coming around the corner and she'll be better than ever!

Oh wow! Sounds like you had serious problems (I think my tires squeal even at 2.5k RPM).

Welcome back! *^_^*
