good job nc. i've lost 10 lbs in a month using slimfast, of all things. i was still doing the gym thing twice a week with no noticeable results. the addition of the slimfast has really helped. the shakes and snack bars are actually really good. i actually haven't done the YMCA thing since i started the slimfast (not intentionally, my fiance got sick and then hurt her foot and since we work together and gym together i just haven't gone without her), so i'm interested to see what getting back to working out does for me. the only real changes slimfast has forced are a.) i eat more throughout the day (a shake or mealbar in the AM, a snack midmorning, a shake or mealbar plus 200 calories for lunch, an afternoon snack, then dinner) b.) i don't have junk food for lunch, the 200 calorie thing for lunch, in addition to the shake or meal bar is easy, there are plenty of good soups that are under 200 calories, plus a spicy chicken soft taco from taco bell is under 200 c.) i don't have 2 helpings (i.e. platefuls) of dinner. I used to never eat breakfast, or anything at all til lunch and then i'd eat junk. then not eat again till dinner and stuff myself.
you're supposed to eat a "sensible" dinner, I alternate between eating what i like (i.e. pizza, pasta, tacos, etc.) but not overdoing it and eating a hearty soup. There are plenty of soups out there that are 300-500 calories and eat like a meal (did i just steal some company's slogan?). Add a piece of bread or some crackers to that and it's plenty.
