Is300 Rims??

has anyone tried to use the is300 rims??? i was wondering if they would fit on the P5??? was going to get a pair of the chrome ones and just switch the center caps to the mazda ones but needed to know if they fit???

the IS 300 wheels are a PERFECT fit for our P-5's.....Rishie has even put a set on HIS car.....and verified it.

I was investigating these wheels and they do seem to be just right with a 215/40/17 tire.
I have read that they weigh 22 lbs though.
SirNuke,
Do you know how much the stock P5 wheels weigh?

I am afraid I do not...sorry....but that sounds about right at least its probably in the ball park. I know that the Mp3's 17's are 23 lbs.....

stock P5 16" wheels are around 16 pounds. The IS wheels will need the centerbored increased in diameter for the P5. P5 centerbore is 67.1.

I will get an update on the battles.

23 lbs's for the 17" Mp3 rims??
Thats almost as bad as the 17" Eclipse GSX wheels that I had on my Talon. The 17" x 6.5" wheel was 25 lbs!!
Add tires and you had a 200 lb+ wheel and tire package!

It makes me not want to swap out the stock wheels at all since they are such a feather weight at 16lbs.
Do you have any 17" x 7.5 Rotas that are similar in weight?
I am particularly interested in the Sub Zero's.
I am in Orange County so I could pick up from San Jose.
Thanks,
Evan

They might even be 25lbs...
when i boxed and sent one once it was 26lbs on the Fedex scale.

Larger size wheels will kill your HP and Torqu on our box stock cars. :)

Dyno test have shown loses when going to larger 17 and 18" wheels even when the proper size has been choosen. Dont get me wrong i love big alloys but its a fact that unless you get the same weight wheels your in for power loss. Also there is a slight diameter increase on some wheels that will gear your car so that you will loose acceleration.

A few months back in a Honda tuning mag they did a dyno test on a car with 30-40HP worth of bolt on mods... When they mounted up a set of 17" with 40 or 45 rubber they lost almost all there Bolted on power!! Just an FYI.

You are right that adding wheel weight will slow you down due to less horsepower at the ground.
I am only going to be adding about 3 lbs or so per wheel and will be staying with the same rotational diameter.
I feel that the offset in acceleration will be made up for in the handling of the car and the improved looks.
This car isnt fast to begin with so I wont be pounding the steering wheel when I loose to a civic SI with my 'heavy' 17"s on. :)
I have my other car in which to beat people in a straight line.

Regarding Honda "tuning" and that car that they tested.
There are no mods short of N2O, FI, or bumped compression that will net 30-40 hp in an already high specific output engine like those Vtec Honda units.
Most likely the mods were giving them another 10 whp and they lost that by adding heavy 17" rims on they originally dynoed with the 15's that it came with from the factory.

Th HP numbers i used were off the top of my head :) I could have been high. Regardless there was loss of HP. Basicallty the:
Cold Air
Headers
CAT BACK
and what ever else was spent on where brought down to just eye candy. :)

I just traded in my 2000 Civic SiR. So far im liking the P5. But its top end power on the Hwy is not much to speak off. it seems to struggle at 150-160kph mark where my SiR had not problems going 190kph... Its new still so i will not push it for while yet but as i understand it the top speed is less then my Sir was... Oh well who drives that fast right? :)
