[rant]It's not referred to as "techno". Call it by it's real genre, ie: trance, house, garage, jungle, etc. to prevent looking like a moron to those who spin/play the stuff.[/rant]

Hahahha, I was wondering WTF happened... You had me confused for quite a bit..

Anyway, sorry, I get REAL defensive about music & my hobby. It's just something in me. :D

Well your in oiff topic now, say whatever the hell you like.

if u knew anything about techno for all you who think you do you'd knowthat trance is a type of techno, so now lets argue that the mp3 is a mp3 and not a protege.

Next time you want to try and put me in my place, know what the hell you're talking about. Techno is a genre of "dance music", not a "parent" name for all kinds of dance music.

Example:

No:
Techno
|-> Trance
|-> Garage
'-> House

Yes:
Dance
|-> Techno
|-> Trance
'-> Garage

i like everything, i call techno techno and trance trance and country country, tho i do have a lil trouble determining between trance and techno... my friedn told me that techno has a bunch of ups and downs in terms of sound, and trance tryins to stay the same? i am not makin any sense here i know...

The way I was taught was Trance had ups and downs and changes and the name came from the word Transition. "House" music stays the same and it all comes under the general term Techno as in technology. I could be wrong

Speaking of which, anybody have any good recommendations for downloading Trance music, specifically "uplifting" trance type stuff with female vocals and or European/middle eastern style type stuff? I am not into any specific artists as I just randomly download so I could not name anyone in particular. I had a major PC crash a few months ago and lost all my links to my download sites. And no Kazaa please I don't need to get arrested:bs:

House: Generally a "slower" beat. Most of what you hear in clubs would be house. House music has a good steady beat mostly with flowing lyrics that normally anyone can get up and "bizzounce" to. Most club DJs spin house to get people on the floor and later on into the night, most transition from house to trance.

Trance: Generally a bit faster BPM-wise than house. Lyrics are not as common or as "needed" as they are in house. Synthetic sounds generally make up most of what trance is about. Trance delivers in a kind of higher energy than house but once you get into it, the sounds put you in a "trance", thusly the name and the reason most DJs switch to it after people get movin' with house.

Techno: Maybe a bit faster than trance but has a "darker" sound to it. Techno tracks will change their sound throughout playtime quite a bit more than trance tracks will.

Garage: Not sure how the name came up, but it's some hard hittin' fo' shizzle and a b**** to beatmatch, IMO. Once you get into it though and focus on the music, you can pull off some insane dance manuevers. :D
