Is this where I should be, performance-wise?

Hey everyone:

I was wondering where my car was on the performance ladder these days, and it would appear that this weekend I got my answer.

I'm not going to get into specifics on this forum about how I came to find this out, but apparently my car is dead equal to a Nissan Altima SE 3.5L V6 in 35-100mph accelleration. NOTE: I do not know if he had any mods (stock exhaust) or if he had an auto/manual. But we're looking at a car that has somewhere between 240-250 hp, 246-250 tq.

This encounter resulted in a draw. So does that sound about right for my mods? (See sig.)

I was a little concerned that I wasn't able to pull on him, but at the same time I saw that he wasn't able to pull on me. All feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I'm pretty much talking out of my ass here, but unless you're somehow running higher boost via your wastegate (I didn't see a boost controller in your list) I don't see how your collection of mods could net you anywhere near 240HP. That Altima had to have been an automatic or a TERRIBLE manual driver.

Oh, hey - I am not, by any means, even insinuating that I'm making 240hp. What I meant was that in running neck and neck with the Altima SE 3.5, does that sound like a good performance level for me to be at given my current mods and untuned state?

I'm just not used to thinking of an Altima as a decent performer, but maybe I should rethink that with regards to the VQ-equipped models...

What do you guys think? Did my MSP fare well here, given its current state?

Are you at stock boost level?? If you are, i think you're doing very well. I've driven many of these cars, being a mechanic, and i can tell you, auto trans or not, they have balls!!

I think the ATP wastegate actuator probably increased it to 8-8.5psi.
I have no boost gauge, unfortunately. Im going to fix that this summer, hopefully.

remember, your car is silver, the fastest color.

Unless it's next too a SPICY

I would say that your fared very well. Those Altimas rather powerful. I would agree that it was most likely an auto tho. My boy's got a Maxima with the same motor, but he has that auto/stick. He's able to take me from a stop. Between 2nd-4th, He's mine tho.

Really? What mods do you have? The link in your sig for your cardomain page only leads me to a red x.

You're looking at about 190whp with your mods since you don't have an AFC. With an AFC you'd be closer to 200whp because of the leaned out A/F. The Altima will have roughly 200whp if it's a manual, less if it's a slushbox. Your results are about right when you then factor in weight. Once you get the Unichip, manifold, and boost controller put in you'd have him no problem.

Awesome, thanks for all the feedback everyone!

As soon as I get the S-pipe and turbo manifold installed, I'll get an EBC, wideband, boost gauge, and oil pressure gauge. Then I'll take the car to a shop in Maryland and have the Unichip custom dyno-tuned for 10psi.

I think I'm gonna have a fun summer.

Not to be the downer but it sounds a little slow to me. I yank on 350z's like it's nobodys business and I believe they came stock with more hp than the altima.

10 psi, a well designed fmic, injen intake, vibrant exhaust, unichip retuned, motor mounts.

That is all you really need given the rest of the car is good.
