General rule... if you have to ask, it's probably garbage. Hell the dyno chart is for a flippin modded Camaro... with additional mods included in the 'after' run results. Ebay FTL, yet again.

Dreamy - To answer your question, yes the idea does work. However, i'm not completely sure that our engines in the 5 use a FITV (Fast Idle Thermal Valve) This valve helps with cold starts and uses coolant to start closing as the engine warms up. The graph above shows the results of installing the Heatshield gasket and bypassing the throttle body heating and idle control valve heating.

This is for a honda but the theory still applies for all cars.
 
It worked on my Camaro...but don't know about 4hp gain much less 8hp gain. Plus, if you live anywhere it freezes for days on end in the winter time, this is a stupid mod to do.
