i have a 2000 protege....when i drive my car on the freeway going 85 miles an hour, my steering wheel shakes....but when i go over 85 and OR under 70, my car flys smoothly....i don't know whats going on...is this normal?

i defiantly wouldn't say normal, even my crappy steelies and worn snow tires it doesn't shake up to 95mph, with my summers and 18"s its smooth to the speed limiter..it might be a balancing issue...just slow down to where it doesn't do it anymore, or if they are the wheels you are using all the time try and have someone balance them better.

how much is it to balance the wheel? and it was happening when i had my first rims..and i just changed rims last weekend....i don't remember if they balanced my rims when they put the tires on...dam those fools...but i am a fool for not checking...haha...

Check balancing of tires which is already stated. Should be aroudn 20 bucks normally for all 4 tires. Also while your at it have them check your alignment for free.
